terry mcsweeney is live at the san francisco general hospital. terry? >> reporter: 31-year-old giovanni ramirez is suspected, though not charged in the beating of bryan stow. he is still at san francisco general in critical condition. we're two months after incident. now there are some who question whether ramirez was involved at all. look at the sketches of the suspect. people are wondering how strong the case is against ramirez. now he is in custody. on a parole violation. prosecutors and detectives met at l.a. yesterday and decided not to file charges, not yet. the investigation continues. ramirez says he has witnesses who will testify he was elsewhere during that game. police line-up will be held today. so, beaten in the parking lot of dodger stadium march 31 after a dodger-giants game. the stow family attorney filed suit against the dodgers saying that he was harassed in the game. hot dogs was thrown at him and he claims that security was lax. ? we have seen what has happened at dodger stadium. they decided to cut on security. they knocked the secu

terry mcsweeney is live with the latest information. terry? >> there is so much controversy involving tasers and the bart police officers. that all happened with just 60 tasers available to members of the force. now the plan is to buy 130 more so the officers will become familiar with them and minimize the stakes. take a look at the incident that started it all january 1, 2009. the fatal shooting of a passenger by bart cop johannes mehserle. he testified he thought he was firing a taser and instead he fired a handgun. the consultant says not buying tasers would leave bart police with the fewer non-lethal options with suspects. he was convicted of involuntary manslaughter. all tasers were pulled when a bart police officer fired from the vehicle with a 13-year-old on his bicycle trying to get away from the cops. that is against policy. they were pull and retraining. all officers now may be rearmed with tasers. it would purchase 130 at a cost of $140,000. live in oakland, terry mcsweeney, abc7 news. >> thank you. >>> just about 6:05. this morning

abc7's terry mcsweeney is live at the hall of justice. terry? >> public defender jeff adachi says he is reviewing thousands of cases, all because of surveillance video that they have come upon, showing a handful of police officers allegedly stealing evidence during drug busts and then lying to cover it up. take a look at the video release a few weeks ago leading to what will happen today. according to adachi it shows the plain clothes officers stealing a laptop and camera bag at the hotel room of drug dealer. adachi says the officers went on and purgered themselves to cover it up. today, the d.a. office is expected to announce 26 cases are being dismissed. but a police union spokesman countered their argument saying it really makes no sense. here is both sides. >> the district attorney has decided rather than to try the cases, to dismiss it because the credibility of the officers is obviously called in to question. >> they are not going to steal a laptop compute they're is eight years old that delongs to a speeder in the tenderloin. >> adachi is

terry mcsweeney is live at the bridge to show us what is happening. terry? >> reporter: everybody, bicycle and pedestrians asked to move -- not asked. being forced to move to the east walkway on the golden gate bridge. west side is shutting down for construction work. let's see how this works out. take a look at the pictures of how they hope it works out. we have pictures of pedestrian and bicyclists sharing. just like kristen said, the way mom would want it. on weekend, that means lots of sharing. 10,000 bicyclists on a busy day getting to know each other. one idea is have a stripe down the middle of the eastside sidewalk, city side of the bridge. half for bikers and half for walkers. that's still up in the air. this is because of the seismic retrofiting on the west side. in september, they will be done with the work. work begins on the east sidewalk. that work will is not close the east side. only make it so you can't walk all the way across the bridge. you can only get partway across it. that will be for interesting pedestrian crowding. hopefully bicyclis

abc7's terry mcsweeney is live at san francisco general hospital. terry? >> reporter: yeah, the prosecution's case appears to have gotten stronger last evening when giovanni ramirez was picked out of a police line-up. but the attorney for ramirez says he could not have possibly done it because he wasn't at the game. the person who is going to give him that alibi is his 10-year-old daughter. take a look at the first picture that we have of ramirez. you can see it next to the sketch of the suspect in the case. you see similarities there. ramirez was arrested sunday at an east hollywood apartment for assault with a deadly weapon but he says he was not at dodger stadium at march 31 when stow was beaten and kicked. ramirez's attorney says his client was with his 10-year-old daughter and she will testify. >> the girl remembers this because she doesn't get to spend many days with her dad. this is a day she got to spend with her dad. her uncle picks up, she and her father took them to her aunt's house where they spent the entire day. >> attorney matthews there say

terry mcsweeney is live. >> federal investigators are interrogating this man. it is disturbing he had a yemini passport. his city of residence unknown but he did have a california i.d. on him. take a look at the situation outside sfo. a flight 1561, 30 minutes out of san francisco over modesto and again, the man is one identified as having get up out of coach, heading toward first class. he rushed, is the word he is using also he rushed the cockpit door and started screaming. >> the passenger proceeded to the front of the aircraft and began to bang on the cockpit door. the flight air ten can't asked the passenger return back to the seat. when he refused the flight attendant put his hands on the passenger and physically pulled him away from the door. >> asked for help and got that help from the flight attendant as well as two passengers. one a retired san mateo police officer. person was arrested, injured a bit in a scuffle. keep in mind this happened hours after a continental flight had to be diverted to st. louis after a passenger tried to open the plane door.

terry mcsweeney is live at pg&e headquarters in san francisco. terry, what went wrong?> the problem is with these smart meters, when they get too hot they can overread the amount of electrical use at home. more is being used and overcharging customers. people say, hey, we told you so. take a look at some of the smart meters, there is 1600 problem meters all over northern and central california. they send out a radio frequency that says, there is a malfunction. there is always also been accusations they cause health problems. people complaining of headaches and nausea from the radio signals. they say the meters are more accurate than the old analog meters. there have been other problems and to overread gas usage. pg&e says we have 1600 problem meters out of 8 million installed. pg&e is trying to rectify the situation by offering a credit and refund the overbilling. you do not have to have a smartmeter installed at least for the moment. you can get on a list and they will be waiting in the puc makes a final decision on whether people will be able to opt out. 8 million hav

terry mcsweeney is live at the airport. we learned more information about this person. >> reporter: we are learning disturbing information about the person that rushed toward the cockpit door. we are finding out he had a yemen passport and had to be subdued after a violent confrontation with a couple of passengers. take a look at the scene last night about 9:00 at san francisco international. flight 1561 landing safely but 30 minutes out, over modesto, a man identified as 28-year-old man with a yemen passport and a california i.d. rushed toward the cockpit yelling something. what he was yelling was described as unintelligible. they are looking into that to see what he was yelling pounding on the cockpit door. two attendants and two passengers, one of those passengers a retired san mateo police officer had to drop him to the ground. the arrest and confrontation was described like this. >> some flexible handcuffs were used to secure the hands of that passenger. that passenger was then placed in a first class seat where he was

abc7's terry mcsweeney is live with more. terry? >> reporter: the thinking is if every bart police officer has a taser on him or her at all times they will become very familiar with that weapon. right now, there are only 60 tasers in the bart p.d. not enough for taser to goes to every officer. they want to buy 130 more. take a look at the incident that prompted this. go to january 1, 2009. the fatal shooting of a passenger by bart cop johannes mehserle who said he was shooting the taser. he doesn't usually have one but he borrowed it a few hours before the incident. they recommend giving each officer a taser to increase familiarity with the non-lethal weapon. they said not buying the tasers would leave bart police with fewer non-lethal options dealing with the violent suspects. he was convicted of involuntary manslaughter. all tasers were pulled from officers when one officer used taser to fire at 13-year-old who was fleeing police on a bicycle. that's against the police policy. the boy was not hit. now the officers have been retrai

terry? >> reporter: yeah, the news from southern california is just what prosecutors and police were hoping for. giovanni ramirez picked out of a police line-up yesterday. the attorney for ramirez says that his client has an alibi witness. that would be his 10-year-old daughter. take a look at picture of ramirez. this is the first picture we have of him. it's right next to the sketch of the suspect that led to his arrest. he was arrested sunday at a west hollywood apartment on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon. that weapon, his foot. he allegedly used to kick stow in the head down at dodger stadium on march 31. but ramirez's attorney says he didn't do it. he was with his daughter. she will testify. plus, ramirez is offering to take a polygraph exam. that is not admissible in court but something police can utilize. >> get the suspect to sit down and start answering questions. once he answers questions you can find out about his involvement or lack thereof in the crime. >> ramirez, two
