terry mcsweeney is live where police were called after terry, a man walked in with a gunshot wound and they know he is connected to that car? >> yeah, they say he is a rather lucky man, even though it may not sound that way. he pulls in about 2:30. gets out with a bullet wound to his arm and walks in for treatment. look at video that will prove he is a lucky man. he's saying it happened on 580, someone pulled up next to him and opened fire. two bullets through the driver's windshield right there in the driver's seat, also, on the passenger side, both windows blown out. so four gunshot wounds, he's just wounded in the arm. oakland police immediately after hearing that story notified the chp about the 580 shooting but investigators went out to the scene and were unable to locate a crime scene. we're presuming they were looking for bullet casings out there. that would be a tall order after so many cars had gone over that area between the time of the alleged incident and the person checking himself into the hospital here. what we have here is a man in good shape, a wound to the arm, and in

terry mcsweeney joins us from the scene. what do we know? >> reporter: a half block from where i'm standing is where it's all going on. the officers have been around that house since this started at 6:30 this evening. and 20 minutes or so we hear something like this. take a listen. >> we know you are inside the residence. come out with your hands up. >> reporter: officers have been asking people in that house to give themselves up peacefully. a woman comes back to the house and a door is open and shouldn't have been. she goes on her smartphone and checks her security system and sees two people in her house. the police come here. that was 6:30 and it is now 11:00 and the police have surrounded the house. police described how she came back to the house to find the doors open and what happened next. >> she used her smartphone to check the video surveillance in her home and was able to see what she thought were two individuals who she didn't recognize inside her home. >> reporter: as police have been asking people to come out of the house they h
