nbc bay area's terry mcsweeney joins us with the story you'll only see on nbc bay area.nd what a story they have to tell. >> reporter: and they've got some spectacular video to show us as well. these six hikers, two of them from right here in daly city, took off yesterday to go to the top of half dome in yosemite. it was going to be a spectacular view up there on top of the world. but then you mix in the meadow fire and then you mix in two frantic women from sweden. yes, you heard me correctly. and you've got a day to remember for all time. hiking up half dome. for these friends it doesn't get any better than this. and early yesterday morning on the way up a ranger had assured them that smoke in the distance should not be a concern. but hours passed and the meadow fire exploded. >> and then we saw the fires kind of skip down to the valley area, take a big leap down there. that was kind of when we started thinking this might be something to consider and worry about. >> reporter: after getting these amazing pictures up top, the men headed back down. and that's when it got

. >>> i'm terry mcsweeney. >> police are asking for the public's help. the attack happened near the intersection of saratoga and campbell avenue in san jose. this is a very busy intersection. >> reporter: extremely busy. there are a lot of shopping centers here and a lot of cars moving through this intersection as you can hear them. what is so surprising about this attack is that it happened at 4:00 in the afternoon. that is a very busy time at westgate mall. as the attack happened at a bus stop here at saratoga and campbell avenue just like this one. two men in a white or silver van pulled up, grabbed a young woman and pulled her into the van and sexually assaulted her. police say this is what the two men look like. they are described as hispanic men in their 30s. after attacking the girl the suspects dropped her off just a few blocks from where she was abducted. residents say while they have heard of some crimes in the area they were shocked to hear about the sexual assault. >> it's a pretty good neighborhood but it has its pockets. honestly it is not

i'm peggy bunker, and i'm terry mcsweeney. arsonists on a rampage. eight fires keep firefighters busy all night, and police have made two arrests. in alameda this morning, firefighters rushed to eight different fires in a seven-block area. officers say they caught two men who had torched the homes, businesses and cars, maul the space of four hours. nbc bay area christie smith joins us from the shopping center where the news is tragic for some businesses. christie? >> reporter: good evening to you terry and peggy. business ownersÑi and neighbors they're stunned by this. we spoke with them, and they say they don't know why anyone would want to set a series of fires that caused this kind of damage. they say someone actually stayed in that unit up above. down below you see a series of minivans. we're told those were used for deliveries for a business. and now some business owners say it will be a real struggle to bounce back. the fires popped up quickly overnight one after another, keeping firefighters moving in alameda, cars, trash bins, businesses, and
