if there is too much enthusiasm texas instruments can be dangerous.mpany but a different stock. the second reason to get tough on stocks during a rally is to figure out which ones to sell and sell hard. i tell you to sell on strength all the time on this show. i recognize this idea is emotionally counterintuitive. can i use that word to apply to feelings? i can. my show. in a rally everyone is buying. you feel great about your stocks and you don't want to sell, but you have to. there is no better time to sell than during a major short-term move higher. by the way, the selling doctrine applies to everything, even mutual funds. if you have gigantic short-term runs it's okay to ring the register even on those. i know this is radical, heresay. but the facts have borne it out for years of underperformance for almost all stocks except those that pay good dividends. i personally have had to risk the program of investing establishment that refuses to look at the facts. they ignore how horrible the returns have been for stock ifs you do nothing but hold. all t

we're watching intel, texas instruments, and rim is higher today and we're looking into some of the reports on rumors that ibm might be coming in to buy enterprise services unit, back over to you. >> jackie d, thank you so much, should you like the stock? we're talking numbers right now on research in motion. on the technical side, abigail doolittle is with me, and edward schnider, good to have you both on the ogram. thank you for joining us. ed, what would a sale of rim's enterprise business mean for rim? >> it would be the end of rim. it's the only thing supporting the losses in hand sets. you can't do that you have to support the losses and you have to shut down the hand set side. so it's the decision to end rim as you know it. >> that's the crown jewel. let's talk about the chart on research in motion. >> in the near term, there is a possibility of a high-risk trade in rim. specifically we're looking at a potential rounding bottom right here. it must confirm on a closing basis, multiday closing basis at 832, the target is above ten, it's supported by the fact that rim is starting to rev

the analysts were lumping it in with texas instruments. analog device.erstand the networking universe or that this was a highly differentiated, proprietary business. many analysts were looking for 30%. the guidance was hugely better than expected. the other giant part of the story is at least for the moment, after this run they face no serious competition. intel is in the same space. this business is all about speed. people keep thinking intel will wipe them out. has not said boo on this particular area. that's why they control 60% of the market. why does it keep surging higher? it's a genuine secular growth story that's been and continued to be under estimated. in the latest quarter the stock was trading 30 times earnings. you know, it's still trading at a little less than 30 times next year's earnings estimates. trading at just 26.7 times next year's numbers. consider the 40% long-term growth rate. that's the power of secular growth. estimates are riding faster than the share price. it's still cheap. the bottom line, it's my obsession. now you know how
