boards and commissions. the clerk's office maintains every year a list of all of the boards, commissions and advisory bodies, where the board of supervisors makes appointments. that is on the board's website. on our website, we have a memo that lists all of the boards and commissions that are decision-making bodies, rather than advisory bodies, where the mayor or some combination of the mayor and board or board president makes the appointments. and then the city's conflict of interest code, which the board passes every other year, also includes a list of all of the boards and commissions, whose members have to file form 700, with the ethics commission. putting all three together, you can basically find everything, but the point is well-taken from the grand jury there is no easy access list. so they have asked our office to prepare such a list and we're going to do that within the next couple of months. i think our letter says within 90 days. one proviso is we're going to prepare a list alphabetized as the grand jury requests of all decision-making bodies in the city. advisory bodies sometimes come and go, cr

boards. because serving as the director of a smithsonian museum, i cannot serve on other boards. i have served on around eight advisory let's be honest, i think i have about aged out of being on corporate boards. it was, i think, a hunk of experiences that helped me to see the world more clearly. i would like to think that serving on those boards, that i actually managed to bring to those discussions a perspective, a set of experiences that was important. when i served on corporate boards, there were not many women, as there are today. nor were there many folk of color. and if you believe, as i do, that diversity is important not simply as a moral issue, but that there is a business case for it, that those with diverse experiences inform american corporations and help them to compete well in the global economy, then i would have to hope that i managed to make a contribution on those boards. i never sat on a corporate board with the assumption that i am just here and it is irrelevant that i am an african american woman. it was always my assumption that it was highly relevant that i was an african-american woman. >> you

people, i'm sure you are, too, but what really struck me about them and what struck me about the youth advisory board, of the born this way foundation when we heard their stories, too, is the courage to heal others while you're hearing yourself. and we're not linear any more these days. so that's kind of a remarkable act of courage, i feel to just get out there and heal. so i'd like to tell two quick stories that represent milestones for me. in working the problem of social cruelty. in social media. over the past eight to ten years. including three national task forces drawing from the work of so many people here. first i'll tell one on my friend justin patchen professor and co-founder of the cyberbullying research center. justin gives quite a lot of talks. and he tells of how when he gives talks to students, he usually asks them to shout out what they think is the percentage of teen who is have cyberbullied someone. and he typically gets someone shouting out 60 or 70%. so when he tells them that only about 10 to 12% of teams have cyberbullied someone in the past 30 days, it really surprised. they've
