also nice that the alameda county fair. temperatures will eventually warm up as we get into the weekend. i will look at the extended forecast coming up. >>> a new report from the california department of justice is showing a spike in reported hate crimes in our state. in 2016 there were 11.2% more crimes reported than in 2015. more than half of those involved bias based on race, at the city or national origin. african-americans were the most common racially targeted group. and jewish people were the most targeted based on religion. the report also shows that race- based hate crimes jumped 21.3%. those involving sexual orientation or up sent. uc berkeley professor jack glaser is a crime expert and said the data is important but only shows part of the total picture. >> if you look at the national crime victimization survey which is a random survey of people you will see 10 or 20 times more hate crime as what you see reported to the police. the phenomenon is larger than the policing data is going to reveal. >> we checked the re

(catheirne) new details tonight on the hit and run crash that killed two young boys and injured a baby. last night the family of 3- month old luciano reyes told us his condition was upgraded to stable. today..the family says the baby has had several seizures and is now listed in critical condition...unable to breathe on his own. the crash happened friday night when a car veered off a highway four off ramp in concord..and slammed into the car carrying the three young boys and their mother. two boys, ages 5 and 10 died at the scene. police say the driver of the other car...lemuel wilson junior, took off from the crash as was later arrested at highland hospital in oakland. he was booked on suspicion of vehicular homicide.bail is set at 500-thousand dollars.
