the public, and it has been safely used for over 40 years. the hbpa supports the use of lacics and other therapeutic medications for the health and welfare of our horses. the american veterinary medical association representing more than 91,000 veterinarians who have no vested interest in horse racing supports the aaep's policy, which clearly states the use of lacics on race day is the most efficacious way to control eiph. these veterinary experts should not be ignored. and yes, a minority of voices has called for the ban of lacics on race day. those who do so equate usage of lacics to doping. that is false. the scientific clinical evidence establishes the facts about lacics, which include nearly all racehorses bleed to some varying degree. and they have a grade of eiph. lacics does not prevent post-race detection in other drugs. that is a myth. lacics is not performance-enhancing. it does not make a horse run faster than its god-given ability to do so. and finally, lacics is a choice. you have the choice as an owner or trainer to use it. some proclaim that the rest of the world does not use lacics, and neither should we. well, that's misleading at best. lacics is widely used in training in othe
