another storm headed to the bay area. the north will be the first to receive the latest round of rain. >> we weather tonight. >> this is a typical, early rainy season event for the bay area. it will be lights but it is edging into north bay. is moving into sonoma county and parts of marin county right now. the rain is to the west of santa rosa. is up towards cloverdale and beginning to come down. rain will continue progressing to the east. is going around the 10th events to one quarter of an inch of windfall. it will make its way towards the golden gate. let's take a look at the hour by hour. will peak in santa rosa and most of the north in the next few hours. will dwindle quickly as we head toward sunrise. rain chances arrived in san francisco and oakland a little bit leader. and further south, it will be a lower chance of any measurable rainfall in san jose. a couple hundred of an inch. will arrive before the sun rises. we will talk about the next round of rain headed our way next week in a few minutes. >>> working live

the area. congressman john garamendi was one of the infrastructure bills co sponsors for the bay area itself. we're going to be looking at a significant amount of money being made available for the upgrade of the bart system, as well as for the. local transit systems. we don't know yet exactly how the $1.2 trillion infrastructure and jobs act will be spent locally. local districts will have to bid for the money for their projects. but we do know how much california will get overall. 25 billion to improve highways. four billion for bridges, 9.5 billion for transit and 100 million for broadband access for the half a million californians who don't have internet one out of every three californians would be eligible for subsidies to pay for their internet acces. we've really under funded infrastructure in this country now for the better part of two decades. um it's been harder and harder as illustrated in this bill to get members of both parties to agree to an infrastructure package. derek perceval i

the bay area and some heavier amounts of rain. see rain rates get near around about a half an inch per hour. and that's about the point that we start to talk about the possibility of some flash flooding so you can see right now just generally some light showers begin to pop up around the bay area. then you begin to see some more. that yellow and that orange that is some moderate to some heavier amounts of rain that are on the way now to go along with that. we could see some very gusty winds. the winds are really going to be picking up over these next couple of hours we could be talking about gusts of up to 40 maybe some 50 mile an hour gusts out near the coastline or the coastal ranges. we've got a wind advisory for most of the bay area overnight tonight except for solano c unty expecting some gusty winds through that period. all right. here's the storm system off the coastline. that is going to start to track toward the east as it begins to move a little bit close to the rain will be picking up through the evening hours. i think

it's a part of the bay area. this for them to come through tonight and then move out by tomorrow morning with just some scattered shower left out. but right now you're coming down the golden gate bridge, very slick out there on the roads. the rain continuing to fall. there and plenty more to come really a nice looking storm system winding up off the coastline, tapping into a little subtropical moisture. and that's what we call the pineapple express. the atmospheric river getting it rained into that system and now making its way on shore. so you've got a mixed bag right now we've had a lot of showers out there around the bay area. mainly light this afternoon. things now begin to pick up and you see some pockets of some heavier amounts of rain pushing through parts of the east bay now in near pittsburgh. antioch in the concord area, seeing some pretty heavy cells moving by there as well. in the walnut creek or end some heavier amounts of rain into oakland. also in the san leandro. then you stretch across the bay. a

>> it's not just the bay area. ss the west and what we are calling a mega drought where you have these conditions for a span of 20 years. >> wow. >> the rainfall that we have seen is good, but it's a small drop in the bigger bucket and some of the worst of the drought from napa to solano and over towards alameda ask contra costaa county, and in 2019, there were several inches. the next year we measured five inches. but normal, once again, 13 1/2. last year was really bad. we only measured two inches but the normal amount is 13 1/2, so we need at least maybe even 150% of the normal rainfall year after year to dig us out of the drought. we are seeing conditions like this in san francisco, and last year they measured 7 1/2, and that's nothing compared to the 22.89 inches they normally get. all of this is good, but we need this for several months and then years on end to dig us out of this major drought that we are seeing right now. >> hopefully not all at once. >> we don't need it all at once. >>> mike, you are monitor

i mean, we're talking 30's that we could be seeing in some spots around the bay area, which is why the national weather service skies as a frost advisory for our east bay interior valleys. so what it's going to be folks in san ramon pleasanton parts of walnut creek bright would antioch all these areas could be seeing temperatures near freezing and that schedules around 3 o'clock tomorrow morning last until about 00:00am in the morning tomorrow so make sure you have those plants covers because it is going to feel much colder. what we found over the last couple of weeks. and if you're going to be out and about definitely want to bundle up because temperatures are starting to drop much quicker. what we've seen over the last few days. but yes, nice and clear shot of the day. this is our camera in the er and berkeley east bay hills there overlooking a nice clear shot of the way over towards a san francisco. so not really any clouds in your way to get in the way there. and yes, of course not keeping anything warm. that's why we're going to see those chilly 30's tonight and also the breeze is

>> when fun time from the bay area's local news station. you're watching kron. 4 news at known. >> now at 9 o'clock, an update tonight on a deadly shooting at the home of a local city council member. police in gilroy saying they have arrested a 19 year-old gunman in connection with the killing of one person and the wounding of 3 others. good evening and thank you for joining us for kron 4 news at 9 o'clock. i'm dan thorn. the halloween party was at the home of gilroy city council member rebecca, our monday us. police were called to her home early saturday morning after a fight broke out and at least one shot was fired when police arrived they found 4 people with gunshot wounds. one person later dying from their injuries. all of the victims are said to be between 1719 years old saturday afternoon. police arrested 19 year-old benjamin david calderon in connection with the shooting calderon has since been booked on a homicide charge. the victim is recovering tonight after a vicious knife attack. this happening in sacramento. police there saying

that's a good sign to bring a significant amount of rain to the bay area. some raindrops taken up and we're starting to get some of the yellow. the orange just off the coastline. so does not that far away so far most that affecting the north bay right now. but that is going to slide across the entire bay area and the instability behind the system to get a little shot of cold air. i think we may see a couple thunderstorms popping up out there as well. the winds all coming up. generally out of the south. now you can out of the south, believe this to 20 miles an hour. stinson beach 13 love miles an hour to san francisco 17 up out of the south in sfo. those winds going to intensify throughout the night tonight and it's tomorrow morning. so expecting some very gusty winds, maybe 40, maybe 50 mile an hour. gust near the coastline across some of the mountain tops there of the coastal range is that will be in effect until 3 o'clock in the morning. so expect some power outages as the storm system comes through. all right. let's time this out for as you head through t

few scattered showers popping up around the bay area. most that is very, very light seeing some amounts moving into the south bay right now. just light amounts of showers rotating on through there at the moment. they're still more off the coastline and more to come in fact, we've got the bigger brands that's about to move on shore in the northern california that will begin to sag to the south overnight tonight throughout the rest, the bay area. so yeah, things are going to stay a little bit unsettled tonight but not a big storm by any means. we're talking a few hundreds of an inch of rain tomorrow you see a lot of clouds. a few scattered showers, maybe in the morning. then this week in return to more sunshine and some warm weather is a dry pattern kind of sets itself up with this front going to slowly work its way in the bay area just come to kind of fall apart as it comes through leave behind a lot of moisture in the atmosphere. so you have few scattered showers. but i think tomorrow night we may have more of a problem with some of the f

you can see this atmospheric river still targeting the areas to the north of the bay area, and it bringsspotty light sprinkles. another chance of rain on thursday before we go to some dry and windy conditions for the weekend. we will have to watch out for that. hopefully we had enough rain to mitigate our wildfire danger. only 0.1 of an inch of rain for parts of the north bay and oakland, and south of there much less amounts of rain. livermore, definitely cooling off for the weekend especially compared to the past weekend. expect chilly temperatures, only in the low 60s. we go into the mid-60s for some of the peak temperatures. we're settling into a cooler pattern, and only slight rain chances. it does stay mainly dry, but looks like we will see more sunshine for the weekend. mid-60s for san francisco, and near the coastline. mike, are you seeing relief at the bay bridge now? >> i am relieved. we had the person fixing their flat tire, sounds like that incident was cleared without injury. that's great. we were worried about folks clearing off the shoulder from the bridge itself. that back

the limit. we have a pretty easy ride on bay area bridges. bridge, problem free with light conditions in both directions. san mtaeo bridge commute is quiet, 13 minutes between 880 to 101, the commute direction. head lights heading towards 101. no delays along the peninsula. >>> as we approach the holidays gas prices are continuing to sky rocket. >> joycelyn moran is live from a valero gas station in south san francisco. i am kind of scared to ask. >> i don't even want to see it. >> reporter: i personally don't even want to look. it is looking pretty painful at the valero gas station on airport boulevard. the price of gas is at $5.19 for a gallon. look at the averages in california. for the state according to aaa it's $4.65. bay area numbers are a bit higher. in san francisco it's $4.85 and oakland it's $4.77. in san jose it's $4.78. if we look at the gas station in san francisco, that's nearly $6 for a gallon of gas. this is one on 4th and bryant. these high prices come as we approach the holidays when we know many people will be traveling to
