they want to know if he was on the phone or texting at the time. they have posted a sign here at the scene this morning, it has gotten rained on, but what it says is don't facebook or tweet and drive. witnesses say the driver was speeding and changing lanes when he lost control of his suv and crashed into that family on saturday. our other top story is in san francisco it is a murder trial covered by terry mcsweeney. >> reporter: good morning. 25-year-old edwin ramos will be back on the witness stand today for a triple killing in june of 2008. three members of the same family killed that day. take a look at the scene from that day in june of 2008. ramos on the stand testifying he didn't shoot anyone he was driving a car with a friend and he was -- and his friend mistook one of the bologna sons as a rifle gang member opening fire and killing the father and two children. ramos talked about a difficult childhood, beaten by his mother's boyfriend. the prosecution has a surviving bologna son identifying ramos as the man who pulled the trigger that day.

the table of contents. as you look at the district, you see there is about 73,000 people that reside in the bay view, but that is increasing by the hour and minute because at mission bay and a lot of the new developments going on there, and that will increase because of the hunters point naval shipyard. we have about a 10% of the city's land mass in the bay view. in terms of the district census data, this is a heavily minority district. 36 these and aged. 28% african-american. 17% hispanic. this district obviously is racially diverse, economically diverse, residential as well as industrial. what is important are the officers and how the reflect the diversity of the district. as you can see, about 45% of the police officers here are either of minority status for women. so that is not as good as it should be, obviously, but it is significant that our district officers have that demographic. bilingual officers, 25 bilingual officers. but as you know, we have a very specific policy with respect to bilingualism and department
