we're excited to be here in the bayview. and also want to acknowledging the barbara for hosting this tonight. she's been a key partner from day one we're blessed to actually come back here and launched this program in july with over 85 people in attendance and another team working aggressively on implementing this program for the last almost a year now. so it looks like we're not going to have a power point that's okay. it's about people tonight. i'm daniel i'll 9 director for the city and county of san francisco i'm honored to be joined here who is one the great leaders in this community. i thought we'd give us some background on our program and what we're attempting to do here and personal observations and values why my colleagues feels the environment is go. previously, i was the director of the mayor's office of 2345ibd services and we had a transformations experience i visited new orleans and katrina with mayor ed lee. a lot of folks went down there and bought into the media framing of what happened in new orleans they 1

the puc made a commitment to bayview arts in san francisco. the city requires by city ordinance to contribute 2 percent cost for the arts commission in the city. in 2011 we actually passed a community benefit policy that alliance the art contributions with our goal which are to be a good neighbor and invest in arts and cultural neighborhoods that are impacted by our services and operations. before it would go to the arts commission and we didn't have about where these funds would be directed. we partner closely with the arts commission to administer art funding similar to how we partner to other agencies like the department of the environment, san francisco unified school district and the work force development. this year with our support, the community art and educational program of the arts commission created a new strategy in the bayview to enhance investments in arts and support local artist and art organizations. so we are pleased with the 2013 bayview art grant program and i would like to turn it over to judy, the director of communicatio

many of our students have come from the bayview hirpts point area and have been working in a variety of life science careers one has a job at the man technical and has started a girl's club. beef about that very, very excited about the possibilities of adding certificates and stackable credential were with that in mind last year we were part of receiving a $2 million portion of a 15 million take grant it stand for community career training by the department of labor. with that funding we were creating an environmental monitoring certificate and have been working with the faculty who have been working hard at the park. it's my great pleasure to be here and share that with you and be very, very supportive of the proposal. thank you. >> (calling names). >> good morning, commissioners and staff. of the port. thank you very much for everything you do on behalf of we the citizens of san francisco. i'm thus exposed to talk with you today because inch i i'm a nonprofit consultant working is a lot of groups as well as a student at conditional. i wanted to talk about commitment and passion and

we have been located in the bayview for over 10 years. we are excited to embark on a new adventure with the sf arts commission and through our youth employment program as well as the summer youth program. earlier this summer some of you had the pleasure of meeting some of our young adults that referred to the project pool this year and corey was interested in commissioner torres stem cell program. that was all through the summer program that she was exposed to. i would also like to say that the summer is an a little bit bitter sweet for us because it does end. after this summer we had over 38 actual positions filled with some of those kids and what we did was we proposed for an expansion of that program through the arts commission and part of our goal is to keep youth in the bayview active, do something constructive with their time, but in addition to that, we wanted to in a way mentor them and equipment them with employment skills which is the other realm of what we do at the organization. by adding a creative and performing arts componen

this work helps to us partner with the bayview farmers market several years we've served the opera. the local resident that were participating with the bayview family were able to have their community gardens certified as organic and it was locally grown fresh and organic. sorry. we provided nutritional educational opportunity & at the farmers market and through the nonprofits. we supported the effort to shut down the plant. i appreciate the hard work of the community resident in mcthis a reality. we supported several energy efficiency and energy projects we funded over one hundred solar installations in the bayview area. we supported green jobs along with the garden jobs we fund we supported some capital improvements for example, 11 years ago we funded the bayview community advocates and for solar training and their training of the now house it was a model house that have the parked next to at&t baseball park and when it was done, it was put on a barge and is at alice griffith used as a community center. so when i come here for meetings i i know that bayview residents help build th

it spans both the shipyard proper and the [speaker not understood] bayview for a total of 7 88 acres along the southeastern water froth of san francisco. the shipyard program includes over 12,000 homes, 32% of which will be affordable, a rebill of alice griffith public housing development. 3,000 square feet of research space, 350 acres of new and improved parks and all this will be developed over two phases by the lennar corporation under a first phase it what approved in 2003 under a disposition and development agreement. and second dda in 2010. this will produce thousands and thousands of jobs and 12,000 permanent jobs over the course of the project along with significant infrastructure both community facilities and transit and other types of infrastructure. and as you know, the [speaker not understood] development broke ground this year in july. one of the principal agreements and the first obligations underpinning the shipyard project is the conveyance agreement between the former redevelopment agency, now the office of community investment and infrastructure, and the navy. the co
