heats up and mild near the beaches and cooler conditions early next week. you'll have a few days to enjoy the heat. if you live near the beaches you probably noticed it's sunny today. marine layer pushing away. it's become very shallow. sitting just under a thousand feet and because of the shallower marine layer and a weakening sea breeze, temperatures came up today. goitsing to continue next couple days. weather controls it now in the summer time. high pressure going to control weather. there is a hot air mass over the desert south wrest. that is spreading westward. towards saturday, inland areas will be approaching the triple digit marks. and this is going with 60s at the beaches. tonight low 60s in the east bay. mid-50s along the coastline. patchy fog near the beaches. there is a beautiful afternoon in the south bay. and low 90s sarah to goa and los gatos. blue skies and mid-80s, 78 degrees in millbrae. coastal areas, another day of mild weather. there is 66 degrees in half moon bay. 72 degree s, temperatures coming up. this is to where you should be at t

however, what it did have is a steamtrain line that ran out lincoln way to the beach. it was basically built to bring picnicers, who wanted to get away for the weekend, to go to the beach for a sunday. right here at the end of the sunset district, at the northwest corner, is where carville gets its start, on a little strip of land, a little block that the mayor at the time owned. and that's where colonel daley put up his little coffee sal yoon -- saloon, using that old car. that's where carville takes off. so who's responsible for carville? we said the mayor of san francisco at the time. very wealthy land owner. owned at one point i think they say 1/12 of san francisco in land. most of it was in the west side of the city. robert fitzgerald was called the king of carville. he was an early settler to carville. jacob heyman that realtor, started being called the father of carville. we'll see why in a second. and this guy on the left, colonel daley, was often called the pioneer father of carville. he really gets a lot of the credit. here's colonel daley in his little shed.

one thing we haven't seen right now that we've seen in the last few day, clearing at the beaches. e phone calls i've been getting from stinson bay, i get a lot of correspondence from my friends at the beach and they say they have just never seen it this clear. clearing in the forecast for tomorrow in the concord area and it's going to be just a little bit warmer than it was today. could get close to 80 degrees tomorrow. that's concord's forecast for tomorrow, 69 at lunchtime. a nice day, the average temperature for concord in late july -- no, we expect upper 80s. we will warm up gradually after tomorrow. where we will start to see a couple more 90s popping up but not widespread. there will be fog back at the coast tonight. there might be a little clearing tomorrow. but this cool and mild weather pattern is with us over the weekend. this is what we usually have over the month. this is what we have now and this is what we have over the week end. it'll get a little warmer. but the basic pattern is a low fog pattern. clearing out there at the beaches, all the forecast for your neighbor

that's true. >> that's coming up. >>> sam's over at the beach. >> the "gma" beach, by the way.t is out about america's beaches. we've created this gorgeous scene. live, behind us, not yet, pensacola beach. and by the way, it's open. but there is certainly an oil advisory out there. pollution, even before the oil spill, continues to be an alarming trend on the beaches across our nation. this even before the big gulf oil leak that's contaminated and dominated the headlines there. the national resources defense council beach report found 18,000 beach closings and advisories. days. 18,682 days of beach closings, nationwide. a lot of this is due to contamination. is your beach is near a city after a heavy rain, you get a lot of bacteria runoff. you can have human and animal waste in the waters. you need to make sure the beaches are safe to go to. we'll link you to a website, where you can check your beaches, right after this piece of tape at abcnews.com. the number of closures is skyrocketing this year. a lot of that is due to the oil spill. there were a number of beaches closed for

we hit the road from the beach to find people working in this weather instead of just enjoying it after a minor setback when the cab overheated we found a farmer and his daughter toiling on their land twelve kilometers outside of town where the snows of the steps make way for potatoes the only right as you can see my face it's very hot now more than thirty degrees. weeds are growing quick and we're fighting them you can grow anything here if you've got the skills we have very good black soil and we have more sunny days than sit pieces but. we found these old soviet river about right where the entertainer should be on a river as meat it's funny that heat in the countryside is so cycling you come back to town to get still equally as hot but the air coming off these rivers is cold it's. still funny people are sweating here. gorgeous. and the captain agrees. everybody comes here especially in summer when the weather is nice everything depends on whether sometimes i make seven or eight trips a day yesterday we carried over eleven hundred people we have nice summers in siberia i've been enjoy

ktvu's ken wayne is at the beach overlook tonight with our report. ken? >> reporter: frank, anyone who has been along the coast near mira beach knows exactly how spectacular it is but it could also be deadly if you are not paying attention. national park service workers say they got a call of a victim over the side of the cliff around 1:00 this afternoon. by the time rescuers from the mira beach fire department got to the beach it was too late. the 17-year-old tourist from pennsylvania was already dead after plunging 400 to 500 feet from the coastal trail about three quarters of a mile south of muir beach. >> when they got there the father had already reached his son by going down a trail down along the cliff face. he had already been there for 20 minutes with his son. they began c.p.r. but there were no signs of life when they began c.p.r. >> reporter: the coast trail is wide and clearly marked near the beach. the teen was on an outing with five other family members when he apparently got too close to the edge. authorities say earlier reports indicate he

and it's not just the beaches. marinas like this one are filling up again with people coming to fish. but the crisis that kept them away so long is not over yet. for a third day, b.p. held back the oil. the pressure in the well is still rising slowly, and b.p. now says the cap could remain closed for weeks until the well is sealed for good. >> we're hopeful that if the encouraging signs continue, we'll be able to continue the integrity test all the way to the point that we get the well killed. >> reporter: that could be risky. with the oil held back, pressure is slowly building in the well bore and the failed blowout preventer. if there's a weak point, the pressure could make it worse. tests have found no signs of leaks so far, but the government's man in charge wants b.p. to keep looking. in a statement, thad allen said, "we must ensure no irreversible damage is done, which could cause uncontrolled leakage from the sea floor." and no one is ruling out the option of reopening the valve and collecting oil again to av

typical pattern, summer sunshine most spots except at the beaches. t's where we are keeping you cool and temperatures there only in the 50s and the 60s. but you get inside the bay, you have a lot of sunshine, some pretty comfortable weather. one thing you get though is that sea breeze through the golden gate and through some of the mountain gaps and that helps to keep the temperatures a little bit cooler. if you like the heat, you have to head inland. today looking at 95 degrees in fresno. about 80 degrees in lake tahoe. high country still a slight chance you could see a couple of thunderstorms popping up in the yosemite area. about 39 degrees there into the afternoon. only about 58 degrees in eureka. so as we look around the bay area, the temperatures are going to be comfortable but cooler than normal. billion 1 degrees in morgan hill. about 77 in san jose. 72 degrees in fremont. and about 70 degrees in hayward. out at the coastline, let's plan on patchy fog and temperatures there in the 50s and also the 60s. how about the east bay? some of the warme
