when we were looking at the specific safety goals and strategic goals for the plan and the bike strategy, we're aligning it by saying our focus is on reducing collisions and we had a public work shop last december that reinforced that with the public involvement and what you're seeing there is the -- what the current cip recommendation needs to focus on improving those corridors and we're looking at increasing our bicycle parking and our goal is to have at least 500 spaces fer year and the cip is recommending doubling that to 1,000 spaces per year. on the proposed improvements, we'll be doing a number of improvements which include looking at ways to fix specific complex at intersections and increasing bicycle parking and doing separate bike lanes. some of these projects are capital intense projects that bicycle pot off, but it's not the sole reasons for these street changes and they are more expensive that we've had in the past. they're more like the valencia street capital improvements so some of those projects are outlined in the cip and focusing on education outreach, and we've starte

as you know, the bike plan [speaker not understood] one civil grand juries, evolved into two civil grand juries, they work in a spread. community wrote a letter to the superior court complaining [speaker not understood] what became 4.2 which is a carry over. i'm happy to report this morning we have made good progress in terms of enforcement relative to 4.2. i'll go through these real quickly. we from the grand jury, we picked up and we are working in coordination with the other groups. we're actually working on establishment of the safety campaign working group as recommended. we are developing what's called a ready ref. ready ref is something used by the california highway patrol. what it does is interprets the california vehicle code. it doesn't rate the code, it interprets it in a way that is long overdue. most of the code is full of things that are actually frankly wrong in many ways in terms of the way they are interpreted. so, we'll be working together. the other benefit of this is something we shared with the public also, very important step in the direction. and thirdly we have o

it will connect to the north, south cycle track on 2nd street, the future bike path through under ramp park up to the transbay transit center. it will be coupled with a westbound bike lane on howard street and other north-south bike path along the other streets going from second to the embarcadaro. as you can see here. we looked at other cycle tracks that have been implemented throughout the city. as you can see here, here are some examples and things that we looked at. so, here's a sample, a sample block. the cycle track will run the entire length from second to the embarcadaro on the south side of the street, will be treated a little bit differently on essex street because that's a main bay bridge access point. at each of the intersections, though, there will be separate signals to try to limit, limit the bike, vehicle -- any potential bike-vehicle conflicts. the cycle track as it is developed and as you can see here will be at street with a buffer zone between the cycle track itself and the adjacent parallel parked cars. the parked cars will act as a vertical barrier between the bic
