the star-spangled air show featuring blue angels takes place one of the great viewing location saturdayunday at fort mchenry. we have 10,000 free passes and as a convenience get there before 10 and you can get in. and you can still come. people are hearing the tickets are gone out. the passs are gone but there's room at the fort. we expect large crowds so get there early. >> reporter: you need to plan accordingly especially with park and getting to the fort. >> you cannot drive your personal vehicle to the fort but there's free shuttles from m and t bank parking lot. being pay to park there 20 dollars to park and the shuttle is free. if you take light rail downtown, down at the inner harbor visiting the tall ships walk over to the stadium lot and hop on the shutel from there. >> reporter: as far as the -- shuttle from there. >> reporter: and as far as the fort we have the blue angels one of the key pieces but there's going to be a lot more going on. >> they are doing a festival. they will have food vendors and after the air show on saturday, they are doing the celebration of the america

. >>> well, today you can watch the blue angels air show in baltimore. >> that's right. t is part of the bicentennial of the were of 1812. >> reporter: thousands gathered from near and far to watch a high-flying show like no other. how cool is that? >> like really cool. >> reporter: the star spangled aircraft display and festival at middle river is where visitors can get up close and personal with a variety of military aircraft that are participating in the star spangled air show. it's all part of the commemoration of the wash of 1812. so far, this weekend event has attracted 5,000 spectators. more than county officials expected. >> we are excited. we're not expecting this many people coming here, but the crowd obviously loves it. >> reporter: before heading off to the show, visitors got the unique opportunity to board one of a number of military aircraft and even chat with the actual pilots. which the pilots really got a kick out of. >> then the kids they ask all the questions. it doesn't have any guns and things like that. but it's really awesome to do things like this.
