this is the benicia bridge, early quiet. just a few police cars and the one car stopped in the middle. this started as a bomb threat and led to the closure of southbound 680. traffic has been stopped for nearly three hours. let's bring in sergio who joins us down below with the latest. what do we know? >> reporter: as you described, that bridge remains closed and you can see from this vantage point that there are still police officers blocking the southbound traffic. that is because there is a bomb squad that is searching the suspect's truck to make sure that there are no explosives on board. this is video from sky ranger. you can see that the bomb squad is using a remote control robot to help them in the search. the chop said the truck belongs to a 54-year-old benicia resident. this incident caused a bad back up in the southbound lanes of i 680 and 780. it was shut down a little over an hour ago. they were able to convince him to give himself up. local police have been called to his house before. this started several hours a

>>bridge is not the only one that needs some help take a look at your screen there's a other 9 bridges in the bay area that had been deemed structurally deficient in terms of how much they're traveled on. the report says about 7% of nearly 26,000 bridges in california are structurally deficient meaning they're in poor condition. and this is after being rated by inspector state has identified about 5,000 bridges that need repairs which could cost nearly million which you know this all sounds very discouraging but if you actually compare this report to the 2014 report. it does show that we are doing better then i hear trust me a 1000 more bridges at that time needed repairs and were deemed structurally deficient so we're doing better. but the work's over as we can see driving the bay area we see this the feel is and as we just told you about pot holes. it's something that we have to take care of a people and called for an hour just telling me they're wondering. how is this going fix why taxes going to make sure that bridges like the one here in concord are taking care of so that's a ques
