in california, some of the business associations that were supportive of the legislation's and advocated for it, january 3 was the first effective date for a company to have the option to incorporate as a benefit corporation or any other current corporate form. the purpose of benefit corporation is to provide protection for corporations to consider stakeholders. they have one duty, to maximize shareholder profit. the free-market approach was taken to alter that, where a company could choose to be a benefit corporation and it would voluntarily have the choice to consider other issues such as society and the environment in addition to the shareholders. this provided the company's market distinction for being amongst the traditional corporations out there and help investors by identifying these new types of corporations. they could easily identify mission-oriented companies said they could apply mission- oriented capital to those companies. previously, as they invested in to a company, they claimed to have a particular mission. there is no recourse for the shareholder otherwise to sell his

we presented at the small business commission hearing, the value mission association and south of market association. in total, we reached out to 35 key merchant organizations across the city and all districts, using e-mail and phone. we heard back from 23 of these organizations after multiple attempts. the second tactic that we employed was merchant walks. in addition to the one on one outreach in key leadership organizations in the district, we activated our environment now outreach teams. our team is right back there. hello. it is the department of the environment's green job training program. we currently have 19 staff in our two year program learning soft and hard skills for the outreach in our environmental programs. they do everything from energy efficiency for small businesses to recycling and cart monitoring in the neighborhoods, and door- to-door canvassing for home retrofit programs. i wanted to take one moment to talk more about the great work they have done. since october of 2009, staff has been canvassing the city and has had conversations with over 25,000 residents of san

that is the private housing developers, the real estate association, to the business mines and the city, and that i would like a trust fund working group to help me help our whole city come up with the best ideas possible and afford ourselves with an opportunity to work with our borders supervisors, leadership of the board to amass the best ideas we can and bring it if need be to the ballot in november. i want this working group to welcome all the best ideas and then to struggle, if you will, with those ideas to make sure that we come out with the most agreeable schedule of ideas that we can present to the voters and residents that we are not going to abandon our commitment to this city to build housing for everybody. we are not going to allow ourselves to lie down and say that just because the state and defense do not find this to be their highest priority, in san francisco, we do. as we build training programs for our employees, as we build the technology and the grain industry to complement our tourism industry for good jobs, that we also are talking about the housing that we need to
