the obama administration. you must have witnessed how legislation can positively or negatively impact business prosperity. you also ran from government and back into the private sector. what do you think the city can do to help companies other than saying, pass money. >> there is this interesting study that noted that between 1980 and 2005, nearly all internet jobs were created by companies that were five years old or less. and that is an amazing stat. someone like twitter fits into that type of group where we're trying to hire fast and we're moving fast. we have great ambition. i think what happened here in san francisco is a perfect example of how government at the city level, local community groups, advocates like ron and the private sector can help facilitate these job creation opportunities. it is not a bailout that helps out economies, it is startups and creates jobs. i think this is a tremendous example. the shining light and a standard i am hopeful that more city government can help replicate. >> the job creation by the tech industry in san francisco is staggering. we're doing what tech typically does. we're analyzing all of our employment data before we start our initiatives. we asked

in many ways, we at city hall feel we're off the hook in that area, that we do not have to worry about our public schools, that other people haven't covered. i think the city can do a tremendous amount. it can do a tremendous amount for our families. one thing i learned from my predecessor, chris daly, is what we can do to ensure we are prioritizing parts and affordable housing for our families and -- prioritizing parks and affordable housing for our families. i think that we need to support things that our schools cannot fund, like summer school. i would love for our city, in better revenue years, to have the longest school year and the longest school day, to really model for the rest of california what you can do if you really fund schools. so, that is the third area. hopefully we will kickstart our economy back up again. >> it looks like we are out of time. i want to thank you for joining us today. supervisor kim: thank you. >> we have been talking to supervisor of jane kim. watch for the next episode when we will be back. >> director of emergency management here in san francisco. it's a flows welcome you here today to commemorate our community celebration

the community can do to put together is appreciated and does wonders. a group of us cleaned up a park off of juice and trimmed the bushes and hauled them to a city sight. here were not gardeners to do it and hope that the city can do that and make it a nicer place to be. and the graffiti (inaudible) is working well and volunteers throughout the neighborhood that work with san francisco police department and when theyç see graffiti and take pictures and to recover as quickly as possible. the taggers need to go to art schooling. >> you heard some of the street noise, one thing i would like to see change is a way to defuse the noise coming from 280. it will cost money and when we talk to the city, they say it's the state's problem and they say the city needs to ask for it. that is something that would bring improvement to the neighborhood. >> some of the great changes are, more of the jewels of the district, coming back alive. point to lake muset and the water levels were dropping and now it's coming back. and the park and zoo. we are doing basic infrastructure work in westportal and the tracks and those will be replaced and library will reopen in november

i think the secrets can be found in the other cities doing it right. we need to look beyond our own city borders at national borders. this used to be a regular street for cars and was made a priority streak. you can see the silver in the front, those are lower at times when needed for deliveries. it is primarily a biking and walking the streets. these are the busiest streets in the city. if you go to the streets with lots of car traffic, those areas are just popular. they don't seem as busy or successful. these are the streets that are thriving. whether they are doing it just with paint, some of them are simply paint, or if you are doing it with full separation, that is the way that we need to be moving on many of our streets. if we are to reach the 80-year- old, the grandparents, will need this kind of infrastructure. this is our goal. when these folks are not making a conscious choice. it is just about what is the best way to get the little guy to preschool. it is mindboggling at how the verse the number of users were. you don't have an image of bicyc
