this is a picture of the one and a half year old chihuahua that's lived here for a couple months. ighbors say they're used to seeing mocha running around the neighborhood, but we haven't found anyone who says the dog has been a problem. apparently the postal carrier who walks this neighborhood disagreed last thursday. the owner of mocha says she was outside her house when the carrier walked by. she admits mocha ran over to the carrier and circled him a couple times. that's when the postal carrier got upset said he was going to halt service and got upset. next thing they knew they got letters telling them service would not resume until the dog was taken care of and out of the neighborhood. so for the last several days neighbors who wanted their mail had to go down to the post office and get it themselves. they certainly aren't happy about that. >> overreaction. simply overreaction because of -- i can see if it was like a pit bull running around or a rottweiler or something like that of course but a chihuahua? come on. what can a chihuahua do to somebody? it's only four inches tall.

the reason -- a chihuahua. claudine wong has more. >> reporter: good morning, tori. i just got off the phone with the postal service. they said, look, we have a dog policy because nationwide there it are more than 5,000 dogs a year. they don't discriminate. they said if their carrier feels unsafe, then they will suspend service at a neighborhood and that's it exactly what happened here in vallejo. let's introduce you to the dog that caused all of this mess. this is a chihuahua named mocha. he's 1 1/2 years old. he's lived in the neighborhood a few months. neighbors say they've seen this dog running around. we haven't found anyone who said this dog has been a problem. apparently, the postal carrier who walks this neighborhood disagree this happened thursday. the woman said the carrier walked by. she said her dog ran over to him and circled him a few times. she said the carrier got upset. it the next thing she knew all of the neighbors got letters in their box telling them service would not resume until the dog was taken care of. that meant friday, saturday, hund, they

she says she wasn't home at the time but according to the times herald a postal carrier was chased by a dog. she has two dogs. a chihuahua pit bull and different reports over what dog was involved. she says it was the smaller one and surrendered it off all this happened. no one was bitten or hurt but things went to the next level when the postal service suspended service to this neighborhood for days and sent a letter about the incident to a at least a couple neighbors out here. that's when the owner of this dog says she was threatened. that's when she says harassment started from the neighbors. she says again it was all a misunderstanding that the dog never chased the postal carrier. she says she's getting a lawyer, getting her dog back and wants all of this to stop. she certainly doesn't like the attention all this has brought on her. we're going to try to talk to some neighbors out here and try to figure this all out. postal service was supposed to resume yesterday. people are getting their mail again but certainly got a lot of people upset. we're going to continue to follow this story for you and keep you updated her
