the area. it did not. also, cia officials told former navy seal tyrone woods, who was a file mile away from the attack with a small security team not to enter the fire zone. mr. woods disobeyed the order and tried to rescue ambassador christopher stevens and other americans. tyrone woods was killed that day. so was the ambassadors, his aid sean smith and glen doherty also a navy seal. today on the radio program president obama said. this i was not personally aware of any requests. obviously we have an infrastructure that's set up to manage requests like that. we're kind to find out what happens. ultimately any time there is a death of an american oversees i want to find out what happened because my most important job as president is keeping the american people safe. >> bill: all right. so once again, mr. obama didn't explain what happened on 9/11 in libya. once again he said his administration is investigating. but so much, so much misinformation has been but the out there by the obama administration you would think

a small team of operatives at the cia annex not at the complex asked the cia for backup and asked to be allowed to go help those being attacked at the consulate. fox news has been told the three requests were denied by the cia chain of command. the cia says the claims are not accurate. the white house has been reluctant to give out information about what happend that night. here is what we do now. 8:30 p.m. libya time. ambassador stevens at the benghazi consulate finishes his final meeting and escorts a turkish diplomat outside the consulate entrance. all appears normal and calm. at 9:40 p.m. gun fire and explosions erupt. meanwhile, at about 10:00 p.m., the main consulate building is already thick with smoke. ambassador is stevens and colleague shawn smith can't get out. 10:05 p.m. a state department e-mail goes out announcing they know the benghazi mission is under attack. 10:54 p.m. another e-mail says the firing has stopped and a team is trying to locate personnel. by 11:00 p.m. the american rescue team finds smith's body but not the ambassador. the team then flees the consulate,

multiple conversations and possibly we're told tonight at least one secure video conference involving the cia director, david petraeus, the white house national security advisor and perhaps the secretary of state, hillary clinton. now, we don't know yet what was said or whether those discussions covered raw intelligence from libya pointing to terrorist involvement. we have been reporting such early indications existed, and tonight, the associated press says some of it was coming from the cia station chief on the ground. whether or how it was distributed, we just don't know yet. late today, though, mike rogers, the republican chairman of the house intelligence committee, had this to say to cnn's wolf blitzer. >> i want to say we, the committee, were in possession of information that provided by the intelligence community that pretty much said this was a military style attack within less than 24 hours. >> are you sure -- >> presumably, the white house also had that information, so why then on september 15th did the united nations ambassador susan rice describe the attack this way? >> it's impor

that the cia was asking for on the ground.n you tell us about what we have learned in the last few hours? >> well, i read that -- those news accounts as well and let's remember that this started at 9:40 p.m. local libyan time. at 4:00 a.m. there was another big wave after the annex and still took hours after that so into the early dawn in order to get people to the airport where then two aircraft were able to evacuate people. so you have this hours and hours and hours of time. and it is just hard to believe that the white house, the president didn't send people in to help extract and protect and save the lives of the people that were serving our country at our consulate and there at the annex. it is unbelievable. >> judge jeanine: you know, congressman, what s stunning is the fact that there is no one else looking at this who is going to get information before the election. that every other blue ribbon commission and every other committee is going to be getting information to the american public after the election. does that s

the cia where is intelligence assess seattle. we judge x, y or z. was given talking points, somebody in the white house wrote them. that's point one. point two, it was a state department facility in benghazi that was attacked. state department personnel were in contact with main state in washington in realtime. there were no cables from libya about a demonstration that day. you don't need to talk to the cia to find out what happened to the state department. a state department official can actually talk to others in the state department. i think what's happening is the administration is desperate to divert attention from the failures of benghazi before, during and after the attack and that's where all of this comes from. megyn: you tell me whether the "l.a. times" headline that tries to say different says no evident found of al qaeda role in libya attack. then it goes on to say there is no evidence al qaeda ordered the attack. but it doesn't sustain the headline. you tell me whether that is at the crux of what this entire libya story is about. >> to

he absolutely threw the state department and cia under the bus. contradicted the state department in what they had just testified to about benghazi, serious subject obviously, and sort of blamed the cia. let's take a look at this. >> we weren't told they wanted more security again. we did not know they wanted more security again. by the way, at the time, we were told exactly -- we said exactly what the intelligence community told us, that they knew. that was the assessment. and as the intelligence community changed their view we made it clear they changed their view. >> and jay carney today just to go a little farther, was asked about this conflict. >> he was speaking directly for himself and for the president. he meant the white house. in over four hours of testimony the testimony that you just referenced, the other day, no one who testified about this matter suggested that requests for additional security were made to the president or the white house. these are issues appropriately that are handled by security professionals at the state departme

by the end, the cia was out of control. as i write in the book, it came at the very end in 1960, when the paris summit, very important, the cia did not warn eisenhower that the spy plane was at the risk of getting shot down flying over russia, spying and getting information. the president of united states was not warned. that was a big oversight. the plane got shot down. 1968. a big to do. the cold war ended a very dangerous phase. the cia basically betrayed. eisenhower was mad at himself that he did not fire dulles. i took his son, john. he was 90 years old. very much alert. i had lunch with him recently. really interesting guy. he worked in the white house for his father. john eisenhower, as they flew to that summit meeting, john eisenhower went to his father and said, you should have fired him. eisenhower blew up defensively and told off his son. he blew up because he was mad at himself for not firing allen dulles earlier. it reminded me of george bush. they are similar, george h. w. bush. they would say things like, i am
