in a member of the citizens advisory board, but today, i speak as a market rate resident of treasure island and hopefully a future market rate resident of treasure island. we as a market rate people, enjoy having the program people out there. it has been a real positive to see them grow, and we want to continue to see that happen. as a disabled person, i also see the affordable housing as a chance for more people to be able to live out there, so i would encourage you to move this program forward. thank you. supervisor chu: [reading names]

the shipyard, that it could be approved by the board. because there were two other committees that had been set up, dealing with the shipyard, the citizens advisory committee, you had the redevelopment agency that came later, the board spoke to whether or not that land would be transferred. in 2000, the year 2000, the voters voted and it was 87% of the voters who said, if any of the land is to be transferred from the shipyard to the city -- [tone] supervisor campos: thank you very much, ms. jackson. let me call more names. [reading names] >> good afternoon, supervisors. linda richardson. i have over 25 years of environmental justice. i am a land use expert. i want to bring to your attention something the new members of the board need to know once and for all. the most comprehensive health assessment of any resident of san francisco was conducted in thebayview. -- the bayview. they got together with the department of public health. three people conducted the most comprehensive study. indicators had not been identified before. you should ask the department of public health. they established everything we know about the viewbayview. -- bayview. this

item 13, approving the recommend applicants to the transbay joint powers authority citizens' advisory committee. >> i just wanted to say that at the last board meeting, ortiz vice, and director -- vice chair ortiz and director kim asked that we do a little more outreach, and we did. with the further out -- it, we have some new members to recommend to the board, and bob will give more information on that -- with the further out reach we did. >> we do have eight positions on our cac up for appointment or reappointment. we have 15 total members of our citizens advisory committee. as maria mentioned, after bringing an initial slate for recommendation to the board, we did go back and do additional outreach , including advertising to a number of different publications, and re- circulation to our partners. the solicitation resulted in an additional six applications. after reviewing all of the applications, the various constituencies that they represented, we have incorporated three of those additional applications in the group that is being brought forward for recommendation, so with the current recommendations, we have five new members coming to t

i know that city-wide you're working with the captains to identify people through their citizens' advisory boards. now that we have e-mail, the internet will not be far behind. i know it sounds ridiculous, like we should already have this. but we are happy now that we have e-mail, and hopefully in the next 30, 45 days will have a policy -- we will have a policy in place. these are all things we should have, we should have had them awhile ago. at the public thinks we already have them -- i think the public thinks we already have them. the languages are most prominent in san francisco. supervisor chiu: how often are york station newsletters put out in different languages? >> minimally, they go out once a week, and depending on the district -- i know they try to put out a newsletter in a second language. what we try to do is a portion at the back of the newsletter. we can have that the together. we were trying to do that through googles, where you can translate from one language to another. and someone pointed out those translations are not accurate. supervisor chiu: that is a topic that is, and in

the shipyard's project was approved. the board of supervisors, six other city boards, and the two community advisory groups with jurisdiction over the site, and the citizen committee, the same old, and become a dead rhetoric is what we have been hearing all this time. [tone] supervisor campos: if there is any other member of the public would like to speak, please come forward. good afternoon. >> mr. campos, supervisors, real briefly, the health department may have employee issues. i don't know. i am not in the health department. but certainly, we should absolutely not allow that to be a backdoor way of undoing what the citizens of this city overwhelmingly supported in the shipyards and the board of supervisors support it, also. someone has said, let the chips fall where they may. the chips have fallen. this project was overwhelmingly support it. it needs to go forward. the thing that disturbs me the most, on this issue and a lot of other things, i have -- i am representing the san francisco naacp and our church -- the thing that kind of really gets me is that we love to talk about the environment, but somehow, those who seem so concerned by the environme

i am the chair of the treasure island/ yerba buena island citizens advisory board and have been in that capacity since its inception in 2001. we're a diverse group of individuals, including longtime residents of treasure island and your but when the island, each with his or her very unique perspective. as i said, this is our 11th year of meeting, and over those years, we have held literally hundreds of public meetings. i think it is close to 300. since the beginning of last year, we have held 40. through april of this year, an additional eight. during that time, we have reviewed these entitlement documents, and over the 11 years, we have vetted and number of items including but not limited to community benefit sea level rise, global warming, transportation, sustainability, open space, bike and pedestrian paths, wetlands, on and on and on. the process has been extensive, and on the april 9 meeting, we took action on the recommendation to the tida board approvals of the final transaction and recommendation entitlement documents, including the items on your agenda today. of the current 24
