what was the true story of the collier brothers? >> well, the true story was that they came from very good family. they opted out, somewhere along the line after their parents died they went in to the house, closed the doors and the shutters and decided to live by themselves without any true connection with the outside world. they despised the utilities and the utilities -- the city and the health department and they were embattled for many years. they didn't pay their bills. the electric tritee was cut off. the water was cut off. they were a little bit paranoid and one of them was physically helpless, dependent on the other. what happened was that langley took all of his junk and bails of paper and stuff and created traps and snares for presumed interlopers and prowlers. but he fell down and somehow tripped wire, one of these things, the junk collapsed and killed him. and homer, who was waiting around for help, never got it, he died of starvation. police when they finally moved in they couldn't get through the door, they had to dril
