pete suratos joining us live from the concord pavilion. the service should be starting any minute now. good morning. >> reporter: good morning to you, sam. the deputy service for michael foley is set for 11:00 a.m. but the process made its way, you can see it over there in the distance. i'm not quite sure if we can get it but they're making their way to the concord pavilion to presumably be there for the service that begins at 11:00 a.m. we have the video of the procession from the mortuary heading to the pavilion. it is a fitting location since deputy foely served as a deputy officer 30 years before joineding the alameda county sheriff's office. he was working as a deputy for the sheriff's department when he was hit by a jail transport bus while on duty at the santa rita jail. now i want to show you video from inside the pavilion. we had a chance to go in there. you can see the dozens of pictures spanning the lifetime of the 60-year-old deputy. as i mentioned he did work for the concord police department where we are today for nearly three

for today's memorial service. >> reporter: we are here at the concord pavilion. the memorial is underway. family, friends, co-workers, fellow officers are all here to remember a man they say was a dedicated officer and devoted family man. we watched earlier as a hearse arrived with a police escort. in the last hormoners gathered inside the pavilion. michael foley served nearly 30 years as a police officer before retiring and then joins alameda sheriffs office as a deputy where he served ten more years earning for his 18 year old son's college education. he died one day after he was struck by a bus in a parking lot. his family, friends, co-workers say they will miss a man devoting himself to his family and who served his community. >> today we honor one of the heroes. acso deputy mike foley who made the ultimate sacrifice by giving his life in service to our community. as we honor mike, we remember his service, cherish his legacy, support his loved ones. >> reporter: one more look at the memorial service underway now. deputy foley is survived by his wife, daughter

fellow members of law enforcement lined the entrance to the concord pavilion... saluting, as foley's body was carried by. foley started his career with the concord police department, then went to the sheriff's deparment where he worked as a deputy for nine years. hundreds of people gathered to remember his life and service to community. michael foley, deputy's son: "my dad was a family man first. and he went to work to provide for his family and to make money to do the things he loved with us, and make sure we were alright. then after all that, he would go to work and do what he thought was right. and he tried to help the community the best that he could." foley's brother, who is also in law enforcement, gave the eulogy ... he talked about how his brother loved public service... and how even in death, he gave back to others by being an organ donor. deputy foley died after being accidently hit by a inmate bus at the santa rita jail late last month. coming up new at ten: storms leave people along the california coast cut off. the extreme measures underway to get fo
