the department had a table and we did outreach about the new d.p.a. what we do in our role with the community. we have tables set up for the pride festival. pride, as you know, is one of san francisco's largest events for the year. 1.8, i think, folks come into town for that. we also participated in the -- in an outreach for community safety fair in the community of san francisco. and i gave the speech presentation for use of force on investigation and oversight in seattle last week as well. also, just a reminder, the interns we've had for the summer will be presenting next week on their projects. they gave me an overview today. it will be brief, but it's really good. [laughter] they've done a lot of good work in helping us get started. here in the commission today is my chief of staff, sara hawkins and present senior investigator susan gray, in case issues come up during the meeting that we need to talk about. i will also acknowledge that president of the board malia cohen is here in the audience. thank you for being here. and that's all i have. >> vi

well we understand laura the german news agency the d.p.a. is reporting from the c.s.u. meeting that interior ministers they offer from the c.s.u. basically the leader of the party the federal level he is apparently saying to his colleagues that he really is not very impressed by what angela merkel was able to agree on friday he says that looking at the elements of it this idea of anger centers areas in the e.u. where migrants could be processed as it were really doesn't like that idea and said so to his colleagues and furthermore he said that he doesn't believe that the sorts of border controls and the idea of turning migrants back at the borders is really what the equivalent of what he wanted is what is being provided in the deals that angela merkel has negotiated saying that they're not they're not they don't they they don't equate to what he was expecting so very much from his perspective it sounds quite negative that contrasts with what i'm going to merkel has been saying she's been giving an interview to german t.v. earlier on today which will be broadcast in full

because, obviously, the report from d.p.a. is great, but we also just want to be more thorough and get that answer and do better in the future. and just so you know that we're close -- the department is close to hiring an academic group to actually look at that. so this is a staffing for traffic company and you can see that in 2014 we had 46, and it went up to 49 and then progressively it went down in numbers and we're currently at 39. so in regards to staffing i think that one of the things that are different, we used to -- and i'm sure that you can ask your husband -- to rely on the traffic company and say, traffic company, this is your role, go do that. and now it's stations. it's about stations and getting them to have traffic carts when they have enough staffing to do so and to hit the areas that we talk about. and we look at complaints from the public and our own officers' observations and complaints that you all receive and our discussions and we put that information out to the district stations and ask them to follow-up
