"for the airlines.. large financing for amr and delta puts them in a position to manage for some time.. shouldn't have a problem for a while." analysts say most airline companies should be able to weather several more months of weak demand the latest numbers show passenger revenue fell more than 20% in august compared to a year ago.. it's the 10th straight month of declines. that along with stubbornly high fuel prices... have depleted cash reserves for all airlines... but analysts say for the most part , airlines have been able to improve their financial conditions. "they still have a highly leveraged balance sheet but in the near term... adequate cash and access to credit lines.. with some of new financing some airlines have greatly improved their situation in that regard. " now, they're just hoping travel demand starts to pick up... experts say there are some limited signs of an upturn... and it could lead to a firming up of ticket prices. right now cut back seats.. firmed up demand... cut 15% of seats.
