if you want to use the dumbarton bridge as an alternate to the san mateo bridge, it will take you 18 minutes. so a little better if you are traveling from 880 to 101. let's take you to 880 specifically. northbound right at marina boulevard word of a crash blocking a lane. that has your drive times slow 13 minutes from decoto road to 238. >>> i know everyone is asking when will this smoke let up? when will it end? and likely as we head through the weekend and especially next week. but in the meantime, we are talking about smoky conditions. now, the good news it's a little bit better compared to yesterday. just a little bit here. the numbers not as high as yesterday morning. but still talking about unhealthy air quality. current air quality readings 1:55 in santa rosa, 165 in san francisco, 117 for an aqi in livermore and 134 in san jose. so unhealthy but 150 or higher, that's some pretty bad air with unhealthy air quality conditions. so air quality advisory a "spare the air" alert still in effect. we are looking at some of the worst air quality that we have seen in the bay area ever.

there is an accident approaching the dumbarton bridge. going to frank mallicoat at the side of the crash. frank, there was an injury and this crash? >> yes. there was. a stark reminder -- in these conditions you got to slow down. there was a lot of rain and the roads are wet with more rain to come. this happened shortly before 5 am. westbound on highway 84. a dodge neon lost control and hit the center divider. it came to a stop on the highway on 84. apparently the passenger got out to take a look and one second later the neon was struck from behind by a jeep on the highway. the passenger suffered a broken leg. the two drivers are doing fine. chp said these three men are very lucky. >> it could've been a lot worse. luckily everyone is safe. >> how about the road? >> it will open up within the next 2 minutes. no lanes were close. we have the lanes moving and we are about to open up other lanes. >> a reminder to drive slow and leave early.>>> some good advice. highway 84 open literally 10 minutes ago. only one lane was shut down. they kept it
