temperatures right back in the heart of the bay have a seeing low 70s along the east bay shoreline. d-to upper 70s through much of sonoma and marin county. topping out at 85 today further north.e to how things will change is to watch the futurecast. even though it is mainly high clouds the next few days, we actually do see something a lot more like a summer pattern fill in as we get into wednesday. that is the marine layer filling back in the bay. it typically happens when you get your bigger transitions in temperature, going for much warmer inland and not necessarily as warm in the bay. that is certainly what we will see play out in the 7-day forecast. you can watch that for san francisco and oakland. you will get back to 80 in oakland in just a little while. we with the temperatures get to 90 in san jose by the time we get to thursday. will be mid 80s for the north bay valleys. when we look at the microclimates for the warmest inland east bay communities, low 90s comeback by thursday. we keep temperatures comfortable, and in the 60s at the coast throughout the entire warming trend.

the peninsula and south end of the bay to low to mid-80s. farther inland in the santa clara valley, 86 in morgan hill. low to mid-80s in the east bay. tied with morgan hill, antioch and brentwood. temperatures around the bay cooler than today. temperatures top out around 70 degrees for oakland and the east bay with mostly mid-70s north of the golden gate. not as warm as other parts because the wind will be out of the south bringing the cooler air in the inland valleys until you go farther north. we go from temperatures inland running 5 to 10 above normal tomorrow to near or below average temperatures on sunday, the beginning of a big pattern shift that will bring rain chances to the bay area beginning on monday. the best rain chance is tuesday. but still lingering rain chances through the rest of the first week of may and into the first weekend in may. not exactly a typical pattern for early may but it's what we have to contend with. no day is a complete washout but be flexible with outdoor plans. tuesday is the best chance of rain for everybody. the atmosphere will be unstable enough with cold air in the upper levels that we could h

there's across east bay hills about to be seeing that dropping down into 6 80's corridor for the inland east bay and the timing of that really here in just a few moments. these are some quick moving showers. so expect an uptik in rainfall, intensity in dublin, san ramon, danville and walnut creek here really in just a couple of minutes for you els zoom back out on radar and you can also see some heavier pockets. they're on to 81. 0, 1, on the peninsula. and there we go already some movement. some of those heavier pockets moving into the east bay. so this is not one of those sit with us for a while. kind of storms that moves in this morning and it moves out pretty quickly. you can see in future cast here will continue to see showers through the morning commute by 08:00am. it's already a little less widespread by 09:00am getting more sparse. and by 11 to noon, we're pretty much done with it. this is really good news for your plans later on today. winds not a huge issue with this 30 mile per hour gusts at the coast in our mountains, mostly 10 to 15 miles per hour for the rest of us in temp

and after the break, coming up, a ban on natural gas in the city in the east bay was rejected. e why a judge says it violates a federal law. >> 7.24 is the time many of the east bay, a federal court now is throwing out berkeley's ban on gas stoves. the court ruled the berkeley's natural gas piping ban violates the federal energy policy and conservation act of 1975. berkeley city council passed that ban back in 2019 as part of its climate agenda. it became the first city in the country to approve something like that. months later, though, the california restaurant association filed a federal lawsuit challenging the city's ability to impose a ban like that. berkeley city council member katie harrison wrote the legislation and she reacted to the ruling with this statement which reads in part, quote, a federal regulation from the 1970's that regulates the efficiency of electric and natural gas. appliances is being weaponized to strip local and state governments of their rights to protect the health and safety of our residents. ensuring those protections are one of our highest callin

in the east bay. students in walnut creek have now returned to class after a freshman student stabbed another classmate kron four's. charles clifford has the latest. >> well, here in walnut creek on wednesday, students at northgate high school are back in the classrooms after one of their classmates was seriously wounded and another taken into custody around 01:00pm. on tuesday, walnut creek police responded here to northgate high school reports that a female 9th grade student had been stabbed and needed medical attention. she was taken to the hospital at last check was in stable condition. her alleged attacker, a 9th grade boy, was taken into custody and transported to contra costa county juvenile hall. he is facing charges of attempted murder and mayhem. the victim and alleged attacker are apparently classmates. but so far we do not know a motive for the attack. on wednesday, the mount diablo unified school district had counselors on campus for any students who might need to talk about what happened.
