now, officially it's only for the north bay, but i've included the east bay hills. you get gusts to 5253. i think that qualifies. so unofficially, i'll include the east bay in that wind advisory. 3035 menlo park. look at that. 55 napa and petaluma. so a wind driven for sure, or no wind at all. so big spread on these temps here. 45 fairfax. 34 novato 35. yet petaluma 55. so there's some big spreads here in areas not that far apart. napa 55 as well, along with healdsburg 16. truckee 21. south lake tahoe to reno is 22. and there is just nothing in our favor. sunny, breezy to windy on your monday. there is no rain in sight. i'm almost thinking we'll go through the rest of the month without any rain is kind of the way it's looking. unless something changes around the 30th or so, but it's a windy pattern, not only for us, but the wind will be picking up in southern california throughout the day into tuesday, blowing in the wind wall to wall sun, that's for sure. temperatures not as warm as last week. they'll be in the low 60s to a few mid 60s. >> thank you steve. a serious

the top of mount tam. and it is very present all across the bay just pushed right in and a view from the east bay hills and berkeley. there's a little bit of sunshine right over uc berkeley, but much of the rest of the city and the east bay is just so shrouded out net. as we mentioned, this dense fog advisories not just extended, but now much more widespread, all up and down the shoreline of the bay itself, the north bay and the coast. and we are expecting fog to be at least present through early afternoon. once we get to the afternoon itself, more and more sunshine will appear and it's going to be a gorgeous day. just got to get through all this fog that we are seeing out there right now. it's actually a fairly onshore breeze transitions to an offshore wind by the middle towards end of the week. and with that, temperatures will rise a little bit. do expect a little haze towards the end of the week. one thing we're not really seeing any rainfall, we stay consistently dry, not just this week, but into next week. a dry trend of weather remains through next week with no sign of anything to disrupt that really

the much of the bay area. and that you know, especially the hills, the inland hills. ensure your heels of the north bay and also including the east bay hills, also, including the santa clara mountains, eastern santa clara mountains, and the santa cruz mountains. it's all about the wind. that's one of the big things. in fact, you look at the shot about 10 will pius. you see cameras jiggling a little bit, especially in the hills. we'll see the wind. so here are the areas of the high wind advisory. this is in effect until tomorrow morning and its throughout much of the bay area's i just mentioned. and if planning to drive a high-profile vehicle could be a bit of a challenge. also, bay area air quality is good to moderate. and here you see some areas of yellow, especially down in san jose at this hour, we've actually improve some of these meeting since earlier this morning. but still, we do have high pressure in control and that can trap particulate matter close to the ground. so we're lucky compared to southern california looking for rain. it is not going to happen. not on this image because day after day we have very gusty northeas

including construction delays and passenger volume. >> i-43 looking outside this morning from the east bay hillst looks on the surface. that all is calm, but the east bales of already seen gusts of wind overnight into this morning exceeding 50 miles per hour. so winds are very strong out there. can see that dry offshore wind pushing out towards the coastline. gus regularly in excess of 30 to 40 miles per hour. peak wind gusts in excess of 50 miles per hour today that we do have a high wind advisory for the north bay mountains that will remain in effect through tomorrow morning. in fact, tonight into tomorrow morning is expected to bring the worst of this offshore wind, especially to southern california where fire danger absolutely remains a critical threat. you can see those areas of yellow, orange and red on the map. just expanding more and more as we do reach overnight hours tonight into tomorrow. and with that comes that spread of any sort exposed area from those fires. so this is for southern california situation that everyone is not taking a breath on los angeles. not seeing that much smoke

the bay area. still some gusty winds as we head through about 1 o'clock tonight. they'll ease up but over the mountain tops in parts of the north bay, the east bay, oakland hills, get the diablo range, very gusty winds expected there over the next few hours. and then that will begin to back off what we need some rain to kick around the bay area 40 right now. it is going to be dry right through the middle of the week as we head toward next weekend. there's a weak weather system. the drops by. slight chance we could see a sprinkle or 2, but maybe even better. i actually could get a little rain into southern california. that would be a big help for them. they've hardly had any rain at all the season. after that, we dry things out a little bit. but yeah, looks like it's gonna stay dry for a while. here now a long-range model. so through the 26th and 30th stay beeow average. but i should mention that the even longer-range models as we get into next week are showing above normal precipitation as we head through the first 2 weeks of february. so we can hope for that. enjoy that sunshine. while we've got numbers in the 60's around the bay area for tomorrow. little chilly a

the people who died in the oakland hills fire was a result of the traffic jams. elizabeth stage nearly lost her home in the oakland hills fire. she's been focused on improving evacuation routes in the east bay hills ever since. road structure isn't sufficient to carry everyone out quickly, stage has worked tirelessly to push for improvements. watching the devastation in southern california this week has been even more of a wake up call. those of us who were here know it can happen here. more than half the people who live here now were not here then. the most important factor for residents to be aware of is to know how to get notifications on when to evacuate. michael hunt, with the oakland fire department, says the city has made a lot of changes since 1991. evacuation warnings and routes are now pushed out digitally through the county's ac alert system. when there's a fire, the system kicks in. we begin identifying areas that are likely going to need to incident commanders beginnt. identifying which neighborhoods and which blocks need to be notified, and then ac alerts go out identifying which zones should be should be evacuated. the city also now inspects more than 27,000 properties a year

the bay like san francisco san mateo at 43, san jose 39. also chilly for the east bay interior valleys like livermore 36 degrees. so with that, there is a frost advisory for the east bay hills, the santa clara hills. so the areas highlighted in blue where temperatures will be down to near freezing levels at 32 degrees. frost is expected to form in some of these areas, and with our light rain comes the winter weather advisory in the sierra until 4:00 tomorrow morning. we could see up to six inches of snow above 5000ft, so just be careful. there will be strong gusts. driving will be difficult, but then the freeze watch kicks in tomorrow night through wednesday morning. this is where these areas highlighted in blue. temperatures may drop down to 26 degrees. so tomorrow's highs look very similar to what we saw today. and then here's the accuweather seven day forecast. we have those a m showers breezy conditions and then sunshine. although we're going to start out with some very chilly mornings on tuesday and also monday and wednesday for the start of the lunar new year before rain chances arrive at the start of next month. >> you know, it's very fitting because the snake repres

the sun has set on one more beautiful day across the bay area. mother nature is now taking her paint brush and giving us some beautiful colors. as we take a look from the east bay hillsm the lawrence livermore lab right over across to to the bay into the ocean. so temperatures right now we're in the 50's and 60's. but these are >> dropping now that the sun has set, of course, as you expect, will head down into the 50's and 40's and even some areas in the 30's temperature change compared to yesterday. it's a bit of cooler day today than yesterday. cooler right now, 4 degrees cooler from nevado and 2 degrees cooler in half moon bay. plus 3, though in livermore. depends on where you work. wind gusts that we've been seeing and just tick undecided, consistent, offshore flow of wind. now, look what happens tomorrow as we start to see more of a seabreeze. the breeze is kicking from the ocean right into the inland areas. we're starting to see a little bit of a change, but still high pressure reign. supreme high pressure is still our dominant weather feature and that means dry weather for us. and sadly dry weather also for our neighbors and friends in southern california. the

start early in the morning in the 30's. >> we still have a little frost in the north bay are actually the east bay south bay hillsw 40's around the north bay valleys. so here are the windy conditions. this is a 10. 45 you can see breezy conditions, offshore winds gusting anywhere between 15 to 25 miles per hour. throughout day. it eases in the evening with those at the breezy conditions really staying to the health. and here's that wind advisory until 10:00am sunday. that's really the main threat. we have weather wise in the north bay hills. you know, the kid really move around loose objects and then we also have a long stretch of chilly temperatures. so after that frost advisory expires, we have a freeze. watch overnight monday through wednesday so we could see some upper 20's in the forecast for to start the day. so let's take a look at the daytime highs in your neighborhood. san francisco, upper 50's for you along our coastline. more 50's upper 50's there. and in that south francisco, similar temperatures along south san francisco in burlingame, really similar temperatures everywhere, usually warmer here in sa

it may get a bit windy in the east bay hills. let's bracket the two time frames here.ere's the visual. here's the wind that gets us into tomorrow, offshore wind. now i'm taking us to monday, two pulses. the first pulse of offshore wind comes through saturday. you see the time staff down there. that's saturday in the evening, so one uptick in offshore winds over the mountains and then there's another one. this one is focused on monday morning. so it switched. i'm going to hit that again to bring in the monday. maybe we've got to get rid of saturday completely. we'll let those dissolve and now bring in the monday wind and you can see how those look. it's a little more directly offshore. the monday morning stuff -- and there's our timestamp -- may be a little stronger, but still fall within the range of these numbers. so what does this mean for the rest of us down here at lower elevations? maybe a 20-mile-an-hour breeze the next two days, not constant, but picking up tomorrow night and again monday and no other change. we're not going to get rain in this scenario. we can

i know i did the east bay hills already seeing plus 50 mile per hour. plus guest. >> just from the evening last night and this is just the start of this offshore wind that will continue all the way through tomorrow morning. winds are regularly gusting to 30 to 40 mile per hour range for us in the bay area. it's really just a nuisance to what is going to be a beautiful day with a few high wind watch is in effect for the north bay mountains. wouldn't be surprised to see a few more of those being issued, especially tonight into tomorrow morning. this cut off low right here, similar to what we saw last week dragging in this very dry offshore wind. and that's that fire danger continues to be critical in southern california. areas like pacific palisades altadena in these areas in yellow, orange and red indicating heightened fire danger. it's a pairing of the dry wind, the low humidity and just the warm, dry conditions that has been just completely unimpeded by any sort of winter rains in southern california. any sort of smoke being sent offshore. so there's at

so that's for the north bay hills out towards solano county, the east bay hills and the santa cruz mountains. winds could be gusting between about 35 to 40 to 50 miles an hour. it's that wind out of the north that's also linked up with the with the increasing fire danger once again, unfortunately, in southern california, here is the satellite where we have lots of clear skies with the exception of some fog drifting back into the bay right now. so we could have some patchy fog first thing tomorrow morning. we'll check out the current wind reports out there. and actually, not too bad on these panels. around three to around five miles per hour. and no big changes here out toward half moon bay or sfo. winds out of the west at about six miles per hour. it is a cool evening and it will be a cold saturday morning. current numbers. santa rosa is 42, oakland is 53 and livermore in the mid 40s. overnight temperatures will be in the 30s and the 40s. gusty winds, especially for the bay area hills, but also out toward parts of the north bay. here for sonoma county, napa, and also out towards solano count

if you look at oakland, specifically along the east bay hills. remember, you need to be about a thousand feet or so and they are just up to the ridge, where they will be feeling them over the crest of the hills. and some of that could translate downhill. so while most of us will not feel a whole lot tomorrow, you're kind of the poster child, but think eaton, down to san leandro and castro valley. you might feel some of the stuff coming off the hills tomorrow for gustier winds there. rest of the pay doesn't really feel much. just keep that in mind tomorrow. we'll get into the afternoon and maybe a gust around 25, 30, and it is nothing too strong. let's go back to the map for a second. it will be kind of cold in the morning. this one will bring out a frost advisory for the north bay. you'll be as cold as you have been doing. and they will be going down in the mid-30s for the next three mornings. so it will be chilly and frosty in the mornings for the inland valleys. right around 60 degrees. maybe a little bit below it towards the end of the week, an
