you see china building up military capabilities, submarines, adding to its ballistic missile forces, making assertive claims in the east and south china seae china discriminating domestically against u.s. and european investors in favor of its own citizens, violating its world trade organization obligation. you see an aggressive china manipulating our currency. what do you see the administration's response as? i don't know. i wish i could tell you the response so i could criticize it, but there isn't any response. [laughter] [applause] unfortunately, it just gets worse and worse. turning away from the international arena, we heard less from the administration and less from our own leaders in congress on the threat posed by proliferation by iran in north korea, the risks of venezuela having closer ties with russia. venezuela has the second largest reserves of uranium after canada. think what that can do of the nuclear weapons program. think of russia turning to venezuela. think of the risk of iran or al-qaeda or hezbollah using venezuela as a base for activities in the hemisphere and in the united states as well. what's our answer to iran

in east asia, we're going to see a little bit of snow for western china today here and then southern areas, too, will see rain spreading in, again from the south china sea. japan this morning looking at pretty heavy showers for central and northern sections of the country. but that's going to be heading out at a pretty good pace. should be looking drier into the evening. as for highs, 14 in tokyo today. 6 in seoul. 18 degrees in taipei. now for north america, it is pretty messy again out towards the west. systems continuing to trek on in and talking about a lot of snow in to friday night. widespread area of intermountain west, rockies and western canada picking up the snow. the sierras in particular seeing the heavier snows. 15 centimeters or more possible here and the snow area for eastern and central sections of canada, too, and some of this parts of ontario expect 15 centimeters of or more of this heavy stuff, as well. great lakes area, though, you won't be looking at too much snow in the forecast because we are looking at warm temperatures again on friday. 13 degrees for your high in chicago, 16 in new york and even getting up to 22 degrees in d.c.

asia it's a concern as to what china's intentions are with a blue water navy demands on the yellow sea and north korea i mean these are where the markets tend to be is south east asia east asia and the middle east in each case there is a country that unnerves the neighborhood and if that the contrary you seeing very little in the way of major weapons purchases in latin america where by and large none of the neighbors are terribly concerned about any of the other neighbors ok there's some purchases i speak but yeah i mean paul and i mean i was brought up here i guess iran indirectly i mean if you didn't have countries like saudi arabia that were buying state of the art and i mean in huge amounts dollar amounts in some of the other smaller smaller neighbors to saudi arabia then why that is why iran wants to build up its military i mean it is doing it for at least defensive purposes i mean if someone is militarizing your border your neighborhood you don't have much option but to react and i'm not justifying or or agreeing with the iranians here but just on that on a principle basis of someone's arming their your border you have to react. well one could raise that
