the wharf located on the embarcadero promenade is a new public space over the water and parallel to the embarcadero promenade. the wharf replaces piers 34 and 36 and a new public space defining the center of the neighborhood. for a bit of history in the year 2000 bcdc working with the port amended the area plan. changes made to this plan and the port's water front use plan removed the long standing 50% fill replacement rule which prevented redevelopment of the historic ports and sheds. with adoption of these projects projects as piers one and one and a half to five and the exploratorium were able to move forward and with that plan the port agreed to construct two public spaces along the waterfront, the plaza which is the new public space which will begin construction in november in front of the cruise terminal at pier 27 and the brannan street wharf and describes the projects in detail by sizes and uses and the port agreed to construct these spaces in a 20 year period. the port began working with bcdc staff and a 23 member citizen advisory committee and had workshops and meetings and co

we have improved the crosswalk in front of the exploratorium on the embarcadero on green tv an area that was a very arched turn and speed could provide a dangerous path of travel for those crossing the street the muni erline from the cal train station to fisherman's wharf. this was a pilot project during the event. this is an accessible historic streetcar and the mini platforms, along the embarcadero are often chained off and those chains will come down to access the historic streetcars in the summer and we have changed some of the signal timing and some of the streetcars themselves to make that happen. and also bike sharing, something that we have been talking for a long time. where you can check out a bicycle, like a library book for a half an hour, an hour or a day and return it to a different location and use it to get about town k. we have made some enhancements to the transit system, the e-line, the finish line that we just discussed. and another one from the marina green area to market street and market to pier 27-29 shuttle to follow the f-line tracks, all accessible muni vehicle

the first one that comes to mind is the embarcadero promenade and probably the most developed piece of the continuity and a public place but meets the maritime uses whether unloading to take passengers on a cruise ship or crossing it with some of the industrial and cargo uses but a successful and loved space within the city and about 3-miles in length. i'm going to move quickly through these. the jefferson street project which was opened a couple of weeks ago and of course fisherman's wharf and looks very successful and predict from last night and getting praise. we opened the promenade here and a project funded by the 2008 general obligation bond and successful and enjoys the best views of alcatraz from anywhere around and the ferry arch. one that is up and coming that will start construction in november what is known as the plaza in front of the cruise terminal a 2-acre addition out there. this will accomplish many things. one will allow non cruise passengers to enjoy a cruise experience in the city as ships pull up to the space and servesace the court to the cruise terminal building
