the world. today this city becomes just a little bit more beautiful. thanks to the incredible hard work that has made this new renovation a reality. the parks alliance is the independent partner to the entire city for everything having to do with parks, recreation, and open space. we have more than 100 different community groups called park partners all across the city. each of them working in their own way to make our park system a little better, a little more beautiful, a little more usable. today this is the day for one of those groups, the friends of lafayette park. this is a shining example of how a few neighbors can come together, bring together their friends, and make an incredibly beautiful thing happen in a public open space. this park was renovated with bond dollars, but friends of lafayette park brought in hours and hours of hard work over four years to do visioning and imagining what this park could really look like. they raised over half a million dollars of private fund to augment the bond dollars so that this kind of a playground could be added to this park. it's been that kind of selfless generosity, and hours of giving to the city that is just an incredible humbling experi

my district really encompasses the ethnic and economic diversity that exists throughout the city. as a result, i think my district is really emblematic of the entire city. you can find every political perspective that you could possibly want in district 3. so oftentimes, the interest of my district and the city really are quite a line, so i do not have to think about this difference is probably quite as often as some of my colleagues may have to. i in particular want to thank the mayor for his decision to protect our nutrition programs. this is something that i think we all believe is incredibly important at a time when we have seen massive federal and state cuts, for us to hold the line locally and stand up in the city of st. francis for our seniors and our nutrition programs and families. i think we have a lot of challenges right now. we are still in the midst of the great recession. we all know way too many folks who are struggling in a minimum wage jobs pirouette of folks who have been laid off at work. i think as a city, we need to do much better at creating an environment where we have more jobs and more economic development. i know that all

the entire city are residential areas are covered. what's not covered is in golf courses, so in the city of golf course isn't covered so if you want to take a bus between hoels, it isn't going to work for you. and on the extreme edges of the bay, and the southeast earn part of the city, as the development grows in those places and as resident move in, we'll provide services to meet those service needs. transit and amenities. all of our shelters and bus stops distributed and for shelters, we found they're not. if you look -- we don't install that many new shelters in a year. we have to go through public process to do it. out of the last nine that were installed last year, seven were installed in minority census track. that was good. we just got to get better. we got to close that gap. the next place to expand shelters or install bus folds in the commission, those are minority fences block groups. we're going to look to install shelters there. we have the customer first grants which are for the san bruno corridor and commission corridor.

city. if we're going to restrict it in addition -- if we're going to face additional restrictions then we need to open space in other areas. this action is premature. it could undermind the entire regulatory system. it's time the city allows dispensaries to open in more areas. article 33 requires new mcd's to obtain a land use permit before the juaning commission for bad acting medical care dispensaries. if a licensed mcd become a nuisance they can be penalized and their licenses revoked. this action is reactionary. the worry of residents not used to having medical cannabis dispensaries in their neighborhoods, but the reality is much different than their fears. research shows conclude regulated dispensaries make wonderful neighbors because they reduce crime and improve public safety. on top of that, the middle elders and working class deserve safe access and in fact, i'd argue need it more. a majority of americans choose some form of complementary medicine that's more affordable and has less side effects than pharmaceuticals. cannabis is a safe and effective medicine. dispensaries reduce crime and increase public safety. thank you. >> thank you. next speaker please. >> good aft
