tom was a pilot who was among the eyewitnesses in the grandstands and joining us by phone. joining us. as an eyewitness to what was happening. can you describe the scene as it unfolded there and what are your observations as a pilot yourself as to what happened. >> sure, uma, happy to help you out grandstands are a thousand feet of the straight way there. it runs trai across and the pilot has a problem, any ype of program he will get away from the other racers and altitude. they use speed and convert it in altitude and gain that altitude . what happened in this particular one, he began, manage must have gone wrong with the airplane and from the pictures, it looked like a part of the elevator that went wrong. he started to gainaltitude and the plane went in a barrel road. it inverted. then the barrel role shifted in a nose dive. it rolled over and nose dived right at the crowd. and i am shaken on this. but the airplane was coming straight at us . roughlyy 400 miles per hour we could see it coming at us at 400 to 500 feet. >> we understand that this gentleman is a veteran pilo
