(robin) the two men charged with 36 - counts of involuntary manslaughter for deaths in the oakland ghost ship warehouse fire have pleaded not guilty in court. in response a preliminary hearing is set to begin on november 13th for 47-year old derick almena and 27-year-old max harris. the hearing will determine if there is enough evidence for the former tenants to stand trial. prosecutors say the duo's reckless actions led to the december fire that killed 36 people. a judge denied a motion by harris to have the charges against him dismissed on the grounds that they are not specific enough. both men could face 39- years in state prison if convicted. (robin) in the east bay... a jewelry case is targeted by robbers at costco in hayward. it happened just after 10-am yesterday on hesperian boulevard. police say three men used a tool to break into the jewelry case and stole several items. no weapons were used. but officers say the robbers were violent. a security guard got into a physical conf

the storm .... and how long it is expected to stick around. kron four's charles clifford is live in oakland with more on what bay area 'first responders' are doing to help out. lets start with lawrence. lawrence karnow: we enjoyed cooler temperatures today as the sea breeze was stonger and brought fog inland overnight. highs today were in the 80s in the valleys and 60s at the coast. hurricane irma has started its round of devastation passing over the leeward islands and near puerto rico now. it is still a catefory 5 and one of the strongest atlantic hurricanes in recent memory. the latest track has it possibly making landfall in southern florida this weekend. we could see some showers here late tonight with even an isolated thunderstorm possible. this is all part of the low that will spin closer to the coast tonight and tomorrow. we shouldn't see a lot of rain but maybe as much as a tenth of an inch in the wettest spots near the coast. a few showers could linger into tomorrow morning beforfe clearing and cooler in the afternoon. be carefull if you'

(mark) the recent hot weather could have a major impact on the wine grape harvest. the record heat over labor day weekend shriveled local grapes into raisins, and that will impact the quality of wine. it's not uncommon for grapes to face hot weather in the bay area, but industry experts say it has never happened this close to ripeness. winemakers say the will put the overripe grapes into a cheaper wine (darya) police are asking for help in identifying two people involved in an altercation at a restaurant in daily city. here is a picture of the people police are looking for. it happened earlier this month at the in-n-out on gellert boulvard. police say the man in the picture was involved in an altercation and brandished a box cutter at the victim. the woman was associated with the man, so police are also looking for her this morning.
