if you remember, the m.t.a. board approved an amendment to the advertising contract to allow a certain amount of vehicles to be fully wrapped. the board of supervisors tabled that, so we are not going to see that revenue. we heard some good news from the city that we are expecting about $2.7 million baseline from the city based on initial first quarter projections. all those line items add up to a $11.6 million negative variance on the revenue side of the house. on our extend tours -- expenditures, the first, second and third columns reflect the same as the revenue side. the the first column is the approved budget and the seg column is the revised budget. we have spent about $79.2 million. for example, our work orders show $65.2 million has been encumbered but has not been paid because we are still waiting for documentation. so we are projecting on the expenditure side that we will spend $818 million, which is a 9.6 million variance. the reason the line items look negative is we are showing the prior year expendi

on page 18, the m.t.a. would like to change -- to git a permit to drive a cab. i feel that if you have a valid driver's license and if you can enter into a contract, the provision on page 17 where you have to bring a sheet of paper that says that a cap company will hire you hot hot -- you hire or not. perhaps a younger driver could not get hired by a and company. the reason that i want this to not be age 24 is that even though most insurance companies will not insurer a cab driver at that time, just my family started in the early 1930's. there are other people i know that have at least three generations. for example, a daughter and granddaughter of mine was going to stanford and wanted to drive a cab on the weekends to make money, i would see to it that she could drive a cab at my company. even if i had to get a special policy just former, this is not the job of the mta to do the hiring. that is the cap companies job. there is no need for this. please, don't destroy some good nepotism. >> good afternoon, directors. there are quite a few elements in this proposal,

i wanted to know where she stood on local hiring because at the time, the m.t.a. was actually in contrast to them.t.a. was a litn i asked mrs. bridges where she stood, she said we needed to enjoy local higher. i said, "this is music to my ears." as i continued to talk with her, i would say things like, "what about the bicycle plan? as the mta commissioner, you would want to be burst on the bicycle plan." a few hours later, she would forward me the resolution passed unanimously at the board in october, saying 20% bicycle rider ships -- writer -- ridership by 2020. she learns like this. it is a testimony to her intelligence, her fiscal expertise. she is critical in dealing with the budget while having levels of service and like what went down on the 67. she learns quick. i think any issues can probably be resolved out in the hallway, to be honest with you. let us get her there. there is a lot of work to be done at mta. she gets so many aspects of this. she rides a 38 gear almost every day. mta is doing a lot of work. time is of the essence to get the local hiring la
