they had a big event to acknowledge the awardees, and the m.t.a. was proud to win two of those here in one of them was for the green taxi ordinance and the fact that we have a fleet of over 3/4 of which is hybrid vehicles, which is, i think, far away a leader -- makes us a leader in the country. the sustainable streets division won an award for the climate at some strategy, which was deemed to be one of the best in the city. obviously, the transportation system we oversee has a big role to play in the city's overall efforts to positively impact the climate, and because of the good work done by the mta throughout all the divisions of the mta, our climate action strategy was identified as one of the best. those with two awards from the department of the environment. the institute of transportation engineering gave us the western district employer recognition award for superior mentor ship of young transportation engineering professionals, and this basically has to do with the internship program that brings in love in -- young engineers while they are

i think this is a key feature that the m.t.a. board will be coming in front of you and asking you to create an oversight committee similar to other entities so they can follow how we're doing with bond proceeds. are the proceeds getting spent timely and with the intent we normally did? otherwise, we will not have to focus on the bond proceeds. unlike grants, there is a significant risk if you do not spend bond proceeds and have them spinning around, or used in them for purposes that you did not say you were going to. i think the bond oversight committee -- director reiskin and i have had good conversations about the bond oversight committee. then, the rating agency presentation. these will be huge. pretty much they do not know us. we are a new entity. a lot of time will be spent honing down on key script messages for the credit agencies so they understand who we are, what we do, what benefits we have, the strength of our entities, and that will lead to discussions on creating these presentations. we have to go aboard supervisors a

the san francisco m.t.a. is the agency that's charged with implementing the city's transit first policy, which is about getting people out of their cars and into more sustainable modes of transportation, such as bikes, such as walking and transit in our great muni system. as someone who myself gets around the city often by bike, and i do that by choice, but more importantly, i'm given the charge of our agency to get folks out oaf their cars. i can't tell you how exciting it is for me to think all of the brain power and enthusiasm for cycling that's in this room are going to spend the next two days working with us to help us figure out how we can do every -- even better. although we've done a lot in terms of bicycling and increasing the mode of bicycling as a transportation of choice and we're very proud of what we've accomplished, there's a lot more that we can do and a lot more that we need to do. it's not just because riding around on a bicycle is for fun, which i think it is, or at least it is for some peop

the decision making to do on this. if you are talking about transportation a lot of that is implemented through m.t.a. and the people over in the transportation section and muni. there may be involvement on the rec park commission. they may have some jackson. but if you look through, and i don't think we have anything to do with the people -- well, aside from reviewing things in reviewing those and our concern busy what may be or may not be in the people plan and the sustain ability plan and that sort of thing, i don't believe at this time that we have very much direct decision make to do on the entire america's cup project. i think that it is the way it is structured. that it is an event even though it has to be manifested on the ground in some way. this was about the e.i.r., which is broader than the planning commission here. your comments were not wasted in any way. but i think in the future there will probably be your opportunities will lie more with the other jurisdictions, rather than the planning commission. i would just like to point that out. i will have some comments in written form of my own
