there were plans for the navy to keep the museum open but nothing came of it and the museum was closed. 11 years later the museum association returned to office and exhibit space in building one provided by you. and we resumed our activities, now is the treasure island museum. in 2011, most of the collection of the old museum was collected from the navy. today i won't go into the all activities we have been engaged in, i talked a bit about it in july. i will take a minute for if you haven't picked up the flyer for our lecture series, they're on the table there and this saturday at 10:30 in the morning in building one we'll have a lecture on the transportation plan for the island. the name is you can get here from there. has to be said this must be one of your prized positions in the museum it totally is it's my favorite thing because i think the english association with the jewels or makeup i've loved it and you know from an artistic point of view it's perfectly proportioned as well especially with this original base because that's how designed it if you look at the dimensions of the trophy they all fit around the base and in those it's very specifically designed and so as a work of art i love it i think it's beautiful so of course the history of this is quite incredible in england. pickles the dog famously found it again going to ninety three it was. so excited quite traumatic when it was stolen in one thousand nine hundred sixty six it was they tried to get a ransom for what they did was they stole they took off the top that little. bit at the top comes off and that's what they sent to the football association with the with the ransom note luckily it was found a week afterwards so you know but then it was ironic because the brazilians said well that would never happen in our country we value the trade or not you're here and then. it was stolen

the highest possible standards. as museums and cemeteries run by the national cemetery association. the legislation we are voting on today does exactly that. i acknowledge the efforts of the gentlelady from columbus, ms. beatty and mr. stiffers. you truly represent what it means to be a representative. your good faith effort to continue and improve on a piece of legislation taking in the concerns the people had to make it work, is to me incredibly encouraging. i thank you for that. this is going to be a spectacular museum and monument. under the bill before us the museum will submit a report to congress before it opens. it will have vision and veteran outreach and a provision that we are adding that allows congress to remove that designation after five years. we will not need to do that. we put this in place as part of our responsibility of oversight. with the addition of these provisions, i believe the committee has done due diligence to confer this national designation. it has put in place the necessary guardrails to ensure this will be built in columbus, ohio to the highest stand
