i want to mention one other aspect tracking the national rifle association. we looked at their task force, as a nonprofit organization meeting are they tax exempt organization, all of those have to file a four 990 with the irs. those for 990s are to be made public if someone asks for them. so we look at their 990s and what the revenue decline of about 15%, that total revenue at the national rifle association. it went down between 2016 and 2017. i have to look at my notes because i cannot memorize these big numbers but looking at in 2016, total revenue of about $366 million and then that had dropped in 2017 according to the nra's own tax form to about 311 million. i will say, and this is in my story, that a spokesman for the nra said that was a temporary dip, and that in fact, what he says is that this year, as of now, their membership is at an all-time high of about 5.5 million members. so it may well be that we see in the next round of tax forms that the revenue is back up. but what he said was that nra membership is at an all-time high and about 150 year his

we came together to form stand with parkland, the national association of families for safe schools. ugh this group, we are trying to get people to look at school safety in a wholistic way, looking at hardening the campuses, better mental health screening for support programs and finally responsible firearms ownership. getting back to your question, we've seen some good changes here in florida. we were able to come together and with the help of governor scott, and the florida state legislature, we got the marjory stoneman douglas high school public safety act passed. and that addressed all three of those areas. shortly after that, some of our families were up in washington. we were able to advocate more and write letters to the leaders of both the house and the senate. the republicans and the democrats, and urge them to come together, and add the fix nix bill, that fixes the problems with the background check, and the stop school violence act, that was signed into law by the president last spring. we've seen important first steps here in florida and on the national level. >> right. >>

we work very closely with the national association of secretaries of state and participated in their onference two weeks ago where he met several of the new secretaries myself and we also work with the national association of eight election direct yours who also had their conference a couple weeks ago where he met several of those new folks. we work very closely with them to find out what sort of assistant the eac can have. in 2018, we held a summit at the national press club was well attended, broadcasted on seized and where we talked to people about preparing for the 2018 election one month before the 2018 election in october we held another summit where members of congress and others were ever to kick the tires on voting machines in here from election officials themselves about how they were preparing for the election coming up. i believe the eac is looking to hold additional forums this year and next year with disability groups and state election officials and others so that we can continue our partnership. i believe we've come a long way when folks who are not looking favorably u
