prevention policies in place which is new, but requires all of their grantees and all of the navigation centers and supportive housing providers to also have overdose prevention policies in place and for these to be included explicitly in their contracts. and i think in our hearing, what we saw is that there has been some progress in the development of these policies. there are still massive holes in the type of coverage and the type of scale that's needed to ensure that every department, every official, every contractor, everyone who provides housing on behalf of the city or to people have training in place have monitoring the people at risk have all of the tools and approaches that they need to save lives because this cannot be something that some folks are doing. only some departments are doing because this is a city wide crisis at the scale which we have never seen in our city and there is unfortunately sadly and tragically, nobody who is entirely beyond its reach or impact and there's nothing so far that is slowing. it's really it's reach of death and devastation. and so i hope, i apprecia

about a temporary site when supervisor kim was on the board of supervisors pushing for housing development. then it was going to become a navigation center. then the pandemic hit and we opened it up and people who unfortunately were living on our streets and sleeping in tents ended up on this site as and i worked with supervisor mandelman and supervisor haney to make that happen and here we are, the perfect site to try this program which allows people to be apart of the community that they want to be apart of. and i think that means something because, you know, being apart of a community matters. it matters when you have people who support each other, who look out for 1 another where you don't feel alone. and this will be a place where people will not feel alone. they'll be support not just from dignity moves and from tipping point, but on site one of my favorite organizations in san francisco that has really taken the tenderloin by storm, urban alkamie has been an incredible partner. i love you right back. and we also have another extraordinary organization that's been working in the western edition and other places in the community to

we think it's important that the city maintain funding for navigation center as well as expanding services and may be establishing newer navigation areas. we right do -- we like to see community-based organizations that are most often on the ground and interacting with the t.a.y. we like to see increase in job readiness programs for t.a.y. and financial support for t.a.y. and educational systems. we like to see the service provider have increase in hazard pay during covid-19 seeing they are on the ground interacting with these folks. we like to see improvements to r t.a.y. youth. as well as greater flexibility with problem solving dollars granted to service providers who operate as these access points. finally, we like to see that the prop b money get spent on housing for homeless youth. >> for the m.t.a. we like to see permanent funding for the free muni for all youth program to be expanded past the one-year mark we like to eliminate nominal fare for youth unto age 23. we like to see funding for full-time youth development mission and compensate youth serving on advisory bodes for the m.t

they come here, and these are the people that help you get into navigation centers, help you get intoter, and talk about housing-1st policies. we also work very closely with the department of public health to provide a lot of our services. >> we have all types of things that volunteers deal do on a day of service. we have folks that help give out lunches in the cafÉ, we have folks who help with the check in, getting people when they arrive, making sure that they find the services that they need to, we have folks who help in the check out process, to make sure they get their food bag, bag of groceries, together hygiene kit, and whatever they need to. volunteers, i think of them as the secret sauce that just makes the whole process works smoothly. >> participants are encouraged and welcomed to come with their pets. we do have a pet daycare, so if they want to have their pets stay in the daycare area while they navigate the event, they are welcome to do that, will we also understand some people are more comfortable having their pets with them. they can bring them into the event as well.
