the montgomery county. nbcwas at the chem alloy company. nobody was hurt. >>> a house fire in camden left four people injured including a firefighter and two police officers. nbc 10's katy zachry is live in camden where investigators are still trying to figure out exactly what caused that fire. katy? >> reporter: they're investigating the cause of this house fire, çchris, that broke out on the 600 block of cane avenue just after 11:00. let's look at our video. our nbc 10 photographer was on scene a short time after and he shot this exclusive video of the camden firefighter being treated in the back of an ambulance for smoke inhalation. that firefighter wasn't the only one injured at the scene. two metro police officers were also injured. they received minor injuries from smoke inhalation. they were transported to cooper university medical center. i've reached out to the police department and the hospital for an update on the officer's conditions but neither agency is releasing that information at this time. th

skyforce 10 was there as the shooting suspect surrendered in camden. nbc 10's jesse gary is live at police headquarters in camden. tell us all about this. >> reporter: to the state of new jersey, this actually was in two counties, gloucester and camden, new jersey. a victim preceded this. that victim is here. we'll show you how the chase ended. this is exclusive video from skyforce 10 last night as the two suspects exited an suv with their hands in the air and surrendered to police here in camden. police say around 10:30 last night in westville, in gloucester, the pair was involved in a shooting of a man in his stomach in the 700 block of broadway. an officer spotted this suv leaving the scene and that led to a high-speed chase through parts of gloucester and camden counties. the suv zigzagged through traffic on side streets before crashing near 10th street in camden. the gloucester county prosecutor's office is the lead investigator in this investigation. the arrest actually happened in camden. trying to get more information, we're working on that. an upd

the fire started around 10:30 on bird street near maryland avenue. nbc10's jesse gary is live on the scene. he spoke to the fire chief. jesse, what new information do you have? >> reporter: six homes along maryland avenue and bird street are without electric service. that service has been turned off so that crews can do the delicate work you see behind me in that mountain of debris. let's take a look from skyforce 10. crews are using robotic cameras to search beneath the rubble for other victims. this is new video we're showing you, shot during the daylight hours. officials say at this point they do not consider this is a suspicious fire. right any they do not believe anyone else is trapped underneath all that rubble but they want to make sure. additionally, the body of the lone fatality, a man, is trapped underneath two stories of debris. officials say this will be several hours before they are able to remove the remains and allow the fire marshall and the police to search for a cause. >> debris fell from the second floor to the first floor and some of

police warn if you see anyone suspicious that fits the description call 911. i'm matt delucia, nbc 10 news. >>> new from overnight, it has been a violent night in the city of philadelphia with at least eight shootings. in north philadelphia, one teen was killed and another seriously hurt when someone fired shots at a barbecue. that happened in the 700 block of montgomery avenue, a 16-year-old shot and killed, a 19-year-old in critical condition. the window of a police suv was hit by the shots. no officers were hurt. investigators say there were about 300 at the barbecue at the time of the shooting. >>> in north philadelphia a man died after being shot twice on german town avenue on west ontario streets. police tell nbc 10 the man was part of confrontation outside the bar where a large group of people were gathered. authorities are searching for the shooter. >>> investigators are trying to figure out if there's connection between two shoots that happened one block apart. the first victim was shot riding his bike. a second man was shot ten minutes later. he is in stable condition thi

one of the victims is talking to nbc 10 about the crime. police arrested samiyyah poteat and charged her with robbery, attempted homicide and related offenses. officers say she and a male accomplice still on the loose, held up a spring garden firing range last wednesday. police say things turned more violent when the same couple shot a man in the groin during a robbery outside the northeast philly gun range the next night thursday. one of the robbery victim who is does not want his name revealed spoke to nbc 10. >> standing about six feet away aiming at my forehead. >> what type of gun did the male have? >> it was a -- looked like a revolver. it had a four inch barrel. i didn't say anything. whatever you want. >> the victim says that he is relieved police have made one arrest. they continue searching for that male accomplice in this case. the other victim who was shot in the robbery in northeast philly, that victim remains in critical condition. >>> new this morning, a 77-year-old ocean county man has pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a

the water sunday. still no sign of him at this hour. nbc 10 jersey shore borough reporter ted greenberg along the beach where time is running out. >> reporter: a grim situation. we've been watching new jersey state police and coast guard boats going back and forth along the coastline all day. coast guard officials tell me, they suspended their search for the boy about 20 minutes ago. from the air and on the water, the search continued today for a 14-year-old philadelphia boy who vanished in the ocean city surf. the boats and helicopters impossible to miss for his loved ones and the thousands of others watching from the beach. >> the only thing you can think about. the atmosphere is different. it's real lshgs really bad. >> reporter: the teen and a group of friends were swimming off the ninth street beach when they were swept away by a rip current shortly before 7:00 last night, 90 minutes after lifeguards had gone off duty. after-hour beach patrol sabed 14 people including good samaritans who became caught in the current while trying to hel

10 at the scene of the shooting. lets go to nbc 10 bureau reporter tim furlong who is live at bay health kent general hospital where the trooper is being treat ted. >> this 26-year-old trooper in stable condition after being shot in the face and hands early this morning with a shoot-out with the suspect. he has his family at newark, the trauma center there. it happened at 7:00. the trooper spotted a guy wanted in a domestic incident that happened at 12:30. state police telling us he allegedly strangled his girlfriend. she's okay. pursued on a short chase in magnolia. the 29-year-old got out of his car and started firing shots at the trooper. that is when he was hit in the face and hands. the trooper was able to fire back and hit those persons. police aren't naming the spent in the case, 29-year-old man. but at 8:47 he was pronounced dead here at kent general. we hear in regards to the treerp, head of the delaware state police relieved his trooper is going to be okay. >> certainly always a relief. when our trooper goes home at the e

the school board approved a policy that could force editors to print the name of the school's mascot. nbc 10 has been covering the controversy since it developed last october and tonight george spencer was at the board meeting for the vote. george? >> reporter: the school board and members have softened their stance somewhat since this controversy first originated, but the vote tonight was clearly a loss for these student editors who decided collectively that the term redskins is derogatory and words that they did not want to print. by a vote of 8-1 tonight -- >> all in favor? aye. >> reporter: -- the school board on this stage in langhorne waded into a nationwide controversy over the use of the word redskins. it is the mascot of neshaminy high school football and a word that this group of editors can now be forced to print in certain cases. >> we're going to keep fighting this. there's no way we're going to sit back and let these restrictions happen to us. >> reporter: the student editors say their vote to stop using the term, which may be viewed as derogatory toward native americans cam

a family was swimming after the lifeguards were gone. nbc 10's nefertiti jacquez is live in ocean city with more on the rescues and search for the missing teen. nefertiti? >> reporter: good evening to you, denise. you know, that 14-year-old boy went missing here behind us about four hours ago. and tonight, crews say they still haven't found him. the u.s. coast guard and state and local authorities are searching for a 14-year-old boy who went missing in the waters off ocean city. >> we saw a bunch of ambulances here on 9th with fire trucks. we saw the helicopter -- >> reporter: witnesses say once everyone realized what was happening, people started getting emotional. >> everybody was upset, everybody. there was a couple people crying here and there. >> reporter: it happened just after 7:00 near the 9th street jetty. ocean city police say the boy was swimming with friends when they were all swept out to sea by a rip current. rescuers jumped in to the choppy waters to pull the group to safety. >> after about a half-hour, we saw two boys walk up
