i have lived in the sunnyside neighborhood for 26 years and shortly after moving there became aware of the sunnyside neighborhood association which i soon joined and became active in and found that group had been formed in the mid 1970's to promote the neighborhood and in particular and try to do something to restore and maintain our neighborhood gem, the sunnyside conservatory. our landmark historic neighborhood gem, the sunnyside conservatory was restored just a few years ago with neighborhood volunteers and many, many sunnyside residents have been involved in the restoration and maintenance of that facility and solicitting the funds for it and so far. sunnyside elementary is at the part of the neighborhood. we have the sunnyside park just renovated two years ago. we do indeed have a very clear neighborhood identity. our boundaries have been clearly documented in every newsletter since the mid-1990's. our meetings and newsletters routinely discuss and promote the sunnyside conservatory to sunnyside park recreation center. sunnyside elementary school. i'm making a strong plea for my neighborhood, sunnyside. a neighborhood

the implementation of policies that can provide some more immediate relief to our neighborhoods. >> thank you. good afternoon, supervisors. my name is gus hernandez and i'm the vice president ped -- of the association. i brought some photographs. i was wondering if i could use the overhead projector. anyway, the increase of tour buses in our neighborhood has happened relatively recently. we have heard critics say, what do you expect you live next to one of the most photographed views in san francisco. but actually, tour bus activity was relatively minor and tolerable until about four or five years ago. i still don't have the overhead. i just wanted to show some photographs of the impact on our neighborhood. in 2010 the alamo square board started hearing more complaints about tour buses in respect to traffic, noise, pedestrians, bicycle safety. and i want to stress the public safety issues, because it's very real in our neighborhood. we live on a hill. it's tricky enough driving in your vehicle, trying to maneuver around the tour buses. but anyway, we followed supervisor david chu's legislation last year to restrict tour buses in the north ridge neighborhood. that was implemented in march of last ye

[reading names] >> i am from the neighborhood association. i appreciate you guys putting us at the front of the consent calendar, that was very nice. we are concerned about proliferation of form of retail and our neighborhood and specifically in the upper market corridor. as we discussed with sharon and the project sponsor yesterday, we conducted a survey of upper market businesses and found that 28% of them are formula retail up from 25%. not including the starbucks. we're concerned about the corners where the -- the concentration index at formula retailers even more concentrated at the corners. we encourage the commission to ask staff to complete a survey that is more official, and examines these issues. we like to look at what is the big picture. where formula retail is allowed. all that said, we came to this project with an open mind. we had a neighborhood serving use. it came down to the site into which you can consider under the neighborhood character elements we met with the project sponsor yesterday and discussed the project further wi

understand the stakeholders or the harbor association, those people on the weightless currently, those people in the west and east basin, the to yacht clubs, the marina neighborhood association , the people who live proximate to the marina. the department of boating and waterways, the short-term voters and those who are transient voters, the public at large, and that was the stakeholder community we engaged. the result of this work is included in your commission binder as attachment f. over the past number of months, we had two meetings attended by approximately 550 people in both meetings. in an effort to get to that many people, we reached out to and have about 3000 e-mail addresses and mailing addresses so we let people know in two different ways. we also publicized in two different publications and in our best efforts to reach the most people we could in the largest number of audiences. the feedback we got -- just so you have an idea of what we did receive was approximately 425 different e-mail. we set up a specific address so people could provide their candid, confidential feedback. we received about 400 males that resulted in a zero about 400 unique comment
