here's the new forecast path for tropical storm sandy. over cuba thursday, on friday going through the bahamas. most likely the central bahamas. close enough to south florida for large waves, outer bands of rain are possible. wind gusts, 30 to 40 mile per hour winds. you notice there's a storm around. the storm does the hook towards bermuda. these storms will exit. we're safe on the east coast. this one is different. the computer models were showing, again, heading towards bermuda. what happens after that there's a big blocking high pressure out here. it's not going to allow sandy to escape. it could be captured by the jet stream and cold air over the mid-atlantic. that storm could possibly be a huge nor'easter for areas of the mid-atlantic and the northeast come monday/tuesday. it may be a potential big super storm. we'll have to watch that and i'll have details as it approaches. >> bill, thanks so much. >>> coming up, disturbing new details about the murder of a 12-year-old little girl. >>> and the fallout from a massive solar flare. >>>

just some news to report that sort of parallels off of what scott was saying, the port authority of new york is opening the outer bridge crossing, the george washington bridge and the gothel and bayonne bridge as well. new york is slowly getting its infrastructure back up to speed in the wake of hurricane sandy. they don't expect laguardia to reopen tomorrow. heard that from governor cuomo and jfk a little more hopeful. the financial markets closed for two days in a row. that hasn't happened due to weather, at least from the new york stock exchange standpoint, from the late 1880s. what's the likelihood we'll get the financial markets open tomorrow? >> you had very important news. the nyse is very happy with what you're saying because getting the bridges open is crucial. i'm told so far so good for a normal opening. the backup generators are all working and that's good because lower manhattan doesn't have power right now and nasdaq is also planning to open as usual. there's a lot of potential pitfalls. here's a couple of the main ones there. may be connectivity issue. the nyse and nasdaq

the "news nation" is following breaking new. e national hurricane center issuing the latest update moments ago. hurricane sandy getting stronger and now bearing down on the entire eastern seaboard. it's expected to collide not only with two other storms but also as you well know with the presidential election in its last full week of campaigning to go. these are some pictures we recently got in of the worst damage so far from delaware to north carolina, new york, and new jersey. the president left the campaign trail today and returned to washington canceling campaign stops in florida and ohio and a rally planned for tomorrow in wisconsin. a little more than an hour ago, the president spoke at the white house briefing room on preps in place to help the nearly 50 million people who could be affected by this natural disaster. the president did answer one question about the storm's impact on the race. >> i'm worried about the impact on families and i'm worried about the impact on our first responders. i'm worried about the impact on
