new developments are coming in to the newsroom. we go to amy hollyfield with the latest. >> the latest information to the newsroom is two marines and a police officer were shot and the shooter is believed to have been shot and killed. authorities say it is no longer an active situation. this is unfolding in chattanooga, tennessee, at two separate military locations. they are seven miles apart. a combined armed forces recruiting center and a navy reserve center. witnesses at the location say the shooter pulled up in a convertible mustang and fired from the car. it looked like he mad a high powered rifle. the city was in lockdown with people huddled inside restaurants and shops as emergency vehicles rushed up and down the streets looking for the shooter. counties advised people should stay indoors as a precaution. it is nerve wracking few hours with little information coming out and the mayor saying it was a horrific situation and they were trying to figure out how to handle it. >> witnesses were shaking long after the shooter sped aw

you're live in the cnn newsroom. >>> hello again, everyone and thanks for joining me. i'm fredricka whitfield. one of the world's most dangerous and powerful drug kingpins the subject of a massive manhunt right now. joaquin guzman better known as "el chapo" escaped from a maximum security federal prison just west of mexico city. during a routine check guards noticed he was missing and found a hole in his cell. the hole led to a roughly mile-long tunnel that had lights and ventilation. guzman is the head of the sinaloa cartel considered one of the most powerful and violent in mexico. it is also known for being a major heroin supplier to the u.s. guzman is wanted here on american soil on multiple federal drug trafficking and organized crime charges and there is a $5 million bounty on him. cnn's juan carlos lopez is following the story from washington from us. what more do we know about this escape? >> reporter: fredricka, joaquin guzman proved there is no prison in mexico safe enough or tough enough to keep him behind bars. this is how the mexican government confirmed the

kimberly: head to the newsroom. jonathan elias has the latest. jonathan: this is a full-size dump truck on the track. there were people on the train at the time of the collision. show you the live picture from the chopper to give you an idea of what we have been looking at. the train hit it as a good speed. you are looking at the fire crews surrounding the truck. they are putting down sand to keep the fluids that might leak from the truck from becoming a problem. we don't know injuries are reported at all from the driver of the pickup truck or the dump truck or the people on the train. from the picture on the ground these are live. look at the damage on the front end. the other seen we have not seen we have not seen anyone get off or evacuated off the marked train. no report of injury which is a blessing if you see the damage that was done. we have the crews on the way to figure out what happened. and why this dump truck was parked up on the tracks at the time of the train coming by. we can tell you this. there is a delay for the brunswick line.
