the latest poll showing it obama, 42, romney, 40. you look at this poll among latinos, hispanics in the state of arizona, obama, 64. romney, 25. governor, i could show you national numbers like that as well. many people say the national immigration debate, and that exacerbated by arizona and laws like it are killing the republican parties politically. is that true? >> well, i think it's unfortunate that we see polls like that. you know, are the polls true? i would imagine that they're as true as polls can be. the obama administration, the democratic party, of course, has been playing to the democrats with scare tactics in regards to what the republicans are going to do and what they won't do. but let me remind everybody that he's been president now going on almost four years. he has a time for two years that he could have accomplished and he could have done anything that he wanted to do, with the house and the senate and him. and he didn't get it done. so you know, i think that the federal government, the democrats, and the president

the question country. that has everything to do with obama. he can't turn it around, because specifically his policies are hurting the economy, he will not be reelected. >> the fox poll and other polls, your sense of this race, where it stands right now, and how badly damaged has romney been by the primaries? we talked with ed gillespie that he's trailing by double digits among hispanics and women and working class. >> he has to do a significant amount of repair work. you hit on the exact things, hispanics and women. i'm not sure mr. gillespie has an answer. he's just been onboard but we know what the election will be about, it's going to be a tight election that is probably going to be fought over eight or nine states. at the end of the day it will fought and won in four states. the obama campaign has an advantage in terms of the on the ground effort, the tactics, they've been building this campaign apparatus, which matters. but what they've not been able to sort of persuade people he's the right steward of the economy. the numbers in washing

you saw it with biden and the obama campaign web video that i discussed with the president's counterterrorismor. obama campaign bragging about the gutsy decession to take down bin laden and suggest thag mitt romney wouldn't do that. fair game or over the line. >> there is no basis for saying that mitt romney wouldn't have done that. romney was become low saying that an obsession of bin laden shouldn't be all there is. it is a broader strugger and you need to cope that in mind. and i would say this about the successful raid to take out bin laden. i think this president will get as much credit for that as president bush did for the successful execution of the first gulf war which was a huge success and praised at home. huge aprouval rating and a huge bump out of that. and he was overwhelmed by the perceived economic conditions. and he lost on the economy. i think like that election this will be fought out over issues related to the pocket book and economy and lesser extent the budget this fade background. >> chris: liz, the romney line that the obama campaign is hanging the hat on and whether t

'96, republicans spent a lot of time complaining about the clinton-gore fundraising scandals and were genuine scandals and much more personally implicated bill clinton and gore. but bush won in '88 and clinton won in '9 #. this election will be more about the policy going forward than particular scandals that happened. >> chris: owe? >> i think it's righ
