( steve ) california has a separate division that oversees the permits and inspection of amusement rides. today, agents with cal osha were on scene at cal expo in sacramento going over every inch of the fire ball ride. inspectors will be heading out to the other 5 similar rides to examine the rides. a spokesperson with the agency says they contacted the amusement park owners shortly after the ohio accident, asking parks to shut down their rides indefinitely. they are waiting for more information about what caused the crash, and whether there is a fix to make sure it doesn't happen here. california amusement park rides receive rigorous annual inspections as well as unannounced visits to ensure safety.
