the health scare in oklahoma. tients, roughly one out of every 50 people in tulsa, oklahoma, that they may have been exposed to hepatitis b, hepatitis c, hiv, all treated by one particular dentist, whose name is scott harrington. officials say he is a menace to public health. susan rogers, director of the oklahoma board of den terroristity said this to me in the last hour. >> some of the things we found were just absolutely incredible. and it's stuff, basic universal precautions for blood borne patho agapath yo g patho jen. he was allowing unauthorized, unlicensed personnel to do sedation. completely unacceptable and illegal in oklahoma. >> we are live in tulsa. >> reporter: good morning, soledad. you know when it's bad when health investigators do this kind of work for leaving, inspecting clinics and dentist offices say when they walked out of this dental clinic behind me, they felt sick. tulsa health officials say the sanitation conditions inside this building where dr. scott harrington works as an oral surgeon w

are several patients that are in out of state, as well. >> and i've just got the complaint that the oklahoma brd of dentistry has made public and inside the investigation, it's pretty remarkable to find that there is an admission here among two of his dental assistants that they were actually performing iv sedations, actually inverting the needles in to patients' arms and reinserting needles into open vials to sort of reinject -- i mean, this is remarkable stuff. could there be criminal activity coming their way? >> reporter: no question this could definitely lead to criminal charges. and what's interesting is that the investigators in that report, it also documents how the investigators were trying to find the certifications and the background of these assistants to kind of see where they were trained, if they were certified to do the kind of work that they could do. and in that complaint, they were unable to find the assistant certifications. so they were not legally supposed to be doing that according to these health officials. so not only does dr. harrington face possible criminal charge

the oklahoma republican had been working with three other senators on a bipartisan bill to expand backgroundchecks for gun sales. that's something everybody wants. the majority of nra members favor that. but senator coburn, the man with an "a" rating from the nra could not accept one simple part of this very simple, very popular plan requiring gun sellers to keep sales records of the guns they sell. car dealers keep records. amazon.com keeps records. even some responsible drug dealers keep records but it is just too much to ask from somebody at a gun show. so new york senator chuck schumer who leads the group of senators is walking away from coburn and wants someone to replace him maybe republican who will actually dare cross the nra and risk a b plus rating. yesterday, like a punch in the stomach, i was forced on this very show to agree wholeheartedly with senator rand paul of kentucky, the man who spent just under 13 hours filibustering the nomination of john brennan for c.i.a. chief. confirmed today. he won't be able to play sting in the next fantastic four movie. because of questions he

that is a particularly important part of oklahoma, because one of the senators from oklahoma, the nra's "a" rated tom coburn was being aggressively courted to co-sponsor a bipartisan bill in the senate for universal background checks. today we learned that that effort has failed. tom coburn will not be signing on to the universal background check measure that is set to be introduced in the senate tomorrow. the one that 87% of his constituents support. he is going to give the one-finger salute to 87% of his constituents in order to do what the nra wants him to do instead. "the washington post" reporting tonight that negotiations for a broad, bipartisan background check bill, including tom coburn, have stalled. now it will be left to democrats chuck schumer and joe manchin and lone republican mark kirk of illinois to try to find republican support elsewhere. and yes, senator mark kirk is himself a republican, but his "f" rating from the nra may not make him the best pitchman for recruiting more republican support to this bill. and they will need that if they're going to pass this bill ove
