the sign says rest in peace orlando. i had a chance to speak with the san francisco resident who says she had a close friend who passed away in the shootings and she wants to make sure her friend is never forgotten. she sent a simple text message to her ex-girlfriend on saturday night. she kind know it would be the last. >> i said, miss you. she wrote me back and her last words were i miss you too. >> reporter: kimberly k.j. morris was one of the victims. shelton says the the two them dated in boston back in 2014. eventually moving together to hawaii. they parted ways when shelton moved to san francisco for school and k.j. moved to orlando to be with family. k.j. just started working at pulse as a bouncer two weeks ago. >> i know that in her last moments it was to help people. she's never been a coward. she'd never run away from anything. she would do anything she could to help people. i know that's exactly what she did that night. >> reporter: she case k.j. was also her best friend. k.j.'s life cut short at the age of 37
