in late april, the p.a.c. was invited to sacramento by the opportunity institute to participate on a statewide panel to discuss the stake holder engagement with the chance to highlight the work as a collaborative, areas that we need to build upon and why the work is important and one aspect of the work that we need to rethink is how to shift to a sustainable model of gathering stake holder feedback, especially as we support efforts for all students to be more inclusive and transparent. many schools are modelling the practice, others need support to engage the communities, particularly families and students that benefit from the state funding formula and district priorities. >> at a p.a.c. meeting in april, we revealed and discussed the policy to provide feedback. p.a.c. members agree with the policy, but have questions about accountability and implementation. questions that we have heard, for example, who is held accountable? who is responsible fo the follow-up? how do we get the support that we need? the p.a.c

item one, report from the parent advisory council, the p.a.c. if i could have the p.a.c. representatives join us. >> good evening, ladies and gentlemen. superintendent dr. matthews, commissioners. i'm sarine. i'm the vice chair for the parent advisory council. i have a 9-year-old daughter that is at guadalupe elementary school, who is going into 4th grade. >> good evening, superintendent, president, and commissioner, i'm john amar, chair-elect for next year. i have two children at alamo going into first grade and second grade. and i wanted to thank the student delegates for their service. so this is year-end report to the board of education for the parent advisory council. this report provides an update on activities of the p.a.c.,

my name is joanne breslin, proud chair of the p.a.c. >> tonight we're going to share with you who we heard from in our summary in our conovversatis for 2018. we had 24 conversations that included 350 stake holders and over the last five years, we've engaged 1,900 stake holders and we've heard from them and this year we have some new themes. first, we wanted to start with the fact that participants shared examples of what is working, including literacy skills, interventions, second step as a social-emotional curriculum and use of practices where implemented. sfusd must leverage existing services and systems to support foster youth, students expelled and those involved with the juvenile justice system. we've also heard about access to tutoring and academic support services that must be expanded to the focal population. regarding accountability goal 2.3, a recommendation tied to specific goals in the l-cap, we want to share some best practices, the recommendation of sharing best practices. we want to highlight practices that are working. identify formal mechanism to capture practices and

no one in the local native american community knows, no one in the indian -- american indian p.a.c. knows. also with the ten points, commissioner sanchez said he would like a report back from staff in a month or two what all the different ten points were 'cause commissioner sanchez said he didn't want to wait another year for an update. another thing was said, commissioner cooke, you said something amazing, you said all racist murals are not okay in the school district. so not just looking at washington murals, but there's a mural with a naked native child on the walls, naked, painted on the walls of mission high school, so that's also something to think about, as well. the last point that i want to bring up, as well, is that i want to really talk about narrative, right, because when we were here fighting off the charter school, we talked about we don't want anyone to define our narrative, right? that was what shimon walton said, right? what about our narrative? i've seen so many racist things working in sfusd, talking about m manifest destiny. i've seen books about columbus, you jus

so basically, i'm here today to support the indian education p.a.c., right, and so there was a list of ten points saying these are the things that we want to see happening this upcoming school year. and i watched that video of the meeting there in january about ten different times, that section. and i took notes. so in one of them, you know, the student delegate said that the washington high school school sites council would be meeting about the washington murals, and they would be making a decision whether how they felt about it or not felt about it, but they would be convening, and that within a month or two, that you all would hear back what -- what -- i don't know, anybody know? superintendent? anyone know what happened at that school site meeting? no one knows. no one in the local native american community knows, no one in the indian -- american indian p.a.c. knows. also with the ten points, commissioner sanchez said he would like a report back from staff in a month or two what all the different ten points were 'cause commissioner sanchez said he didn't want to wait another year f

the people. they aren't aware there is behavior health court. drug court, everyone knows about drug court but people don't know about behavioral health court, or p.a.c. court or other courts in the system. now i would like to talk about a lit b so the three types of stigma we face are public, structural and self. the public stigma being things like someone putting a blanket statement and saying someone with mental health was the person that shot up this place and it was because of mental health challenges. a lot of times that is a blanket statement, that blankets everyone with mental health challenges that they are capable of shooting up a place or something like that. the structural stigma is stuff like hospitals, institutions, like the medical model being imposed on people and we are going to fix you. the person not being an expert, just something i believe, that everyone is an expert on stuff especially about mental health challenges. and stigma surrounding being incarcerated. it's so stigmatizing to come out and try to look for a job or the way you feel about looking for a job. you get turned down quite a bit. i became depressed. i became hopele

the power panel. progressive commentator david burnstein is here. executive director of america rising p.a.c. alexandra smith. this is a winning conversation fab the president and for america. the dow we haven't seen if it will make it move but americans' pocketbooks move when jobs are created. what are your thoughts? >> the job numbers could not be better for the president going in the mid-term elections. we talk about the g.d.p. growth and wages and the number of jobs that are available out there for people. a lot of that is contributed to the tax cut and the job act of the republicans in congress and the president worked hard to pass. unfortunately, that so many democrats in the states he won in 2016, senators like claire mccaskill and bill nelson voted against. the constituents will hold them accountable in november. >> harris: missouri, florida. david, this is interesting. sometimes the president doesn't get credit for the job creation now. that it was somebody else's, the previous president economy. that aside there are bright and shining spots. we have more jobs than people applying it
