the p.u.c. is also struggling to figure out their budget quandaries too. so while we're all together, why don't we figure out what's possible here? >> sure, supervisor. i completely value what city college does. i'm appalled of the cuts at the state level. the school district is relatively speaking better off and they will not let me say that but basically they went to the voters a few years back and went -- ended up with access to the city's rainy day reserve and also a work-aside to the arts, music in schools, the slams program. they are getting more of the benefits because the voters voted on that and said to do that. love to see if city college wants to kind of bring forward that kind of thing but i realize even if they did that that's a longer term discussion. the problem that we have, we have several different interactions with the community college district. one of the larger ones that mr. rizzo, or president rizzo, brought up was the southeast community. ms. jackson referred it was put th

and the inability for the p.u.c. als the owner to -- as the owner to quality control and if we take that on it helps the city college but allows us to take control of whatever is happening in the building and hire local firms as we think about those pieces of work. around the security piece, we met with the police chief. he was not the police chief when we met him but to talk about security in the area and opportunities to think through a collaboration both with the police department, shiver's department -- sheriff's department and hiring local security to get through the security issues. some of it is people power, a situation where we need more people in the building that are doing security. the other piece as we talk about building improvements some esthetic improvements will help us deal with security issues. the hrlast piece of this with cy hall as far as the partnership -- and this is based on what we heard from the community -- wanting access to other city college campuses. so we are in conversations about prov

on that note, i am wondering what the p.u.c.'s position is on that bill? >> sure. mike campbell once again. the position on the bill, we have been very active on this bill, as have our c.c.a. alleys there in sacramento. as you all know, the sfpuc has a strong lobbying presence in sacramento, particularly as one of the water agencies. when we speak, they do listen. the long i was describing before, it was very, very broad, and we were aposed. i let the legislators know that as it was drafted, it was a disastrous bill. that language has been change, and as i noted, it doesn't affect us anymore. our current position is neutral, and does not mean support. the legislators know that. we are watching it very closely, and should the language get modified to a point where it would start to adversely effect the c.c.a., we can change our position and start weighing in more heavily. right now we are working extremely hard on the bill that we have sponsored of sb-970. supervisor campos: are there other jurisdictions opposed to the bill and seeing this as the bill potentially hav
