and again, over time, so the red here is parks that are scoring less than 80 percent, the yellow is parks between 80 and 80 percent and the green is the parks over 90 percent, consistent relative to last year with the improvement with the parks scoring below 40 percent, relative to last year and so if you go back to the fiscal year ten, a slight decrease over those scores. these next two slides are just going to show you the district results so kind of like this map here because it gives a pretty clear indicator of how the districts are doing relative to one another across the city. traditionally the parks in the south east section of the city do tend to score lower over time or at least they have over the beginning of the evaluations over this year, district ten and eleven have seen improvement and eleven has seen the over all improvement and that went up by 3.3 percentage point which was a really large jump and this second side is showing you district results and it is showing you over time which districts were the lowest scoring and which were the highest scoring, just to kind of give

the plan identified park propertis with the highest priority for assessment and methodology. so an assessment was done in golden gate park between january and october of 2011. over 3,000 trees were assessed in over three phases and there were 90 different tree species identified, which i thought were interesting. monterey cyprus and the assessment included three components. one the failure potential of the tree. size of the part of the tree that would fail and the target that would be impacted should a failure occur. so those were the three factors and each component was ranked on a scale from 1, which was a low-risk, to 4, which was high. and then results were added together to yield a summary rating that ranged from 3-12. and the program identified a rating of 9 as the threshold for actually abating the tree -- meaning removing the tree. so in golden gate park, and we did this citywide, in golden gate park. there were 336 trees overall with a ranking of 9 or above and among those 126 were monterey pines and 78 were monterey cyprus and the rest blue gums. from there, hort sci

scores, to evaluate the consistency of our parks scoring methods for the larger parks like golden gate park. so continue to retrain our evaluators to account for excused absences in our measurements of when staff are at parks and to strategically plan for improvements for those districts that are lagging behind. we have done that already this year and taken some initiative to jump on these things. we're in close collaboration with the controller's office. this is an example:we have displayed on the website for a number of years the number of times or the percentage of times that we can find park employees at a park, according to the posted schedule. we thought that number was lower than we wanted and adjustments naturally employees go on leave and have vacations and hillsboroughs and sick-leave and we never accounted for that amount. so we adjusted those numbers and that is in the right-hand column, it brought the numbers back into the column. it's hard for an evaluator to apply standards equally across a large area that may take 3-9 hours to walk. and it's difficult for the park staff

this extends the park for really no land cost and it gives oscar park beneath it a lot of excitement because you ever are looking up and down, we know that the people like to go across the golden gate bridge and it is a whole new environment. and as you build it, you build an exit way around that tower. it will create an exit off the bus ridge of which there is none right now in the event that you had a crisis in the building, you had a line up of buses with a lot of people oned aboard and no place to go. and if you had to exit the building it provides that, it could provide a new exit way off of the park system as well as a new exit way out of the building, number four, it could create a terminus for the escalator which you are talking about building in phase two from the park, oscar park up there, rather than creating another bridge system with that exit way. the bottom line is that i think about a 0 cost proposal but you will have to steal the money from phase two verses phase one. when you do that, i propose eliminating the exit way system at the west end of the park, that only go

the friends of dee boers park, this is actually one of the projects that we're requesting retroactive authorization. they raised $104,000 for a new youth play area in duboce park in the lower haight neighborhood. it's a very exciting and creative outdoor play area for school age kids. oftentimes our play grounds are for younger kids, and this one really benefits children who are in elementary and middle school and really even adults as well. in golden gate park, the [speaker not understood] club has raised about $25,000 to repair and upgrade the green number 1. there are three greens, but this is for one of them. the fifth project is for the lincoln park steps in the richmond neighborhood, district 1. this group has raised about $21,000 to improve and beautify the lincoln park steps. the six projects -- sixth project is in noe courts at douglas and 24th streets in district 8. this group has raised about $42,000 to fix drainage issues and add seating and community gathering space. and they just want to overall upgrade the appearance of this park. and the seventh project is the upper do

in january of this year, i was hired by the rec and parks department as one of six new park officers, i was one of the most experience officers and the only female. based on hiring requirements, we were to complete the six month probationary period, however, a week before our probation ended, we were told we were going to be extended because of a department error, we bargained for a two month extension, i was able to work all shifts during that time frame, however, a few days before my probation was to end, i was released by the department without just cause. i would like to state i have never been released from any position in any capacity. i took great pride in my job and focused on promoting good public relations for the department, i took that extra step to assist the park rangers when possible. i believe creating positive relationships is essential to provide all. i was pleased to read in the newspaper recently that there's an effort to professional the park patrol unit, they should serve the community by upholding its mission. i hope the department will adopt written performing
