it's a big priority of ours in the park districts. a couple of things we do to deal with the youth we have the national light out every year at the boys and girls including club where the kids have positive interaction with the officers they bring out the bomb be responsibly it's a hit with the kids ease it's a great opportunity for positive interaction. we have regular storehouses at the station of school kids who come out to the station and look at the cars and the patty wagon is a big hit kids love checking out the padding i didn't wagon we get the hours out there and it's positive interaction with the children it creates a very good bond with us with the kids. another thing that's important is our school resource officers. we have two school right away officers who are dedicated to patrols at the 24 schools we have in the park district. their volunteers and what i believe is very important we keep those two officers year after year they have that assignment because it's important to build the relationships with the various children

five renovations and one new park construction. the boat park renovation is currently under construction. it's a $5.3 million full flight renovation and the project between rpd. the construction expected to be completed by the end of the summer with a ground breaking in the fall -- i'm sorry, a park opening. next, the south park renovation, of course the commission approves the concept plan and the funding plan for this renovation last month, so you're familiar with the project. it's another full site renovation funding with a combination of bond dollars and development impact fees from the eastern neighborhood area plan. and construction is currently expected to begin june 2015. next die place park. it's funded by development impact fees, both the land purchases and the park construction. and it's a smaller sort of pocket park in ring con hill. and the capital division project manager for this site anticipates bringing the concept plan and the funding package to the commission for consideration in may. you can look forward to that soo

we presented those priorities to the commission and community and park advocates. the one change we've made to the list is to focus any of the changes on administrative supports for the delivery of our customer service we use to those priorities to create a proposed list for investment for the next two years. before i launch into this slide i want to give you the key to the slide the items on the following slides that are in blue are one time investments. we consciously tied those in. so our took up priority is park safety and in support of this priority the budget proposes an investment in two additional park patrol officers and one pa dispatcher to help with the enforcement of the new hours a $1.5 million of replacement of hazard trees and within electrician to address lighting initials our parks and the repair of irrigation systems that have been damaged and also an investment in the creation of an operation center for the department to facilitate staffs response in cases of emergency or disaster. our next priority is environmental sustainability and this budget

the city. it's between two parks. the shoreline park and the india bassen space. if we purchase this, it would join these two parks. we're excited about this project. it's something we have been working on for some time for the department of real-estate and our community partners with the neighborhood an associate ace and of is the alliance and the trust for public luck land. the status of the acquisition, we have completed environmental site assessment work for the property and john, the city's director of real-estate has been in active negotiations with the property owner which is the tenderloin housing unit. we're very encouraged and concurrently the planning unit of rpd is working with our community partners on the details of a partner ship that would follow the acquisition to work on the planning and design and outreach that will yield a concept plan and a vision for this open space expansion. and then some other very good news is we're being recommended to receive a grant -- it's the priority conservation grant from the coastal agency for $5,000 which will fu

that was one of the projects that i worked under shore view park. when we worked on the shore view park, there were a lot of conditions that were dangerous to the community. they had ring worms in the sand pit. we blocked them off. they are gate now. i know one time the redevelopment agency was talking about redoing the whole project. if you turn the water on now, it would leak under the ground under the concrete bench. i talked with ms. bowie before about that particular issue. but the whole park needs to be redone. there is no agency, city, state or anybody else or even that project area is going to take that park over the way it is. really commissioners you should go and see that park and see what a danger it is to the residents especially the kids. that's always been our concern. that fence has been up for over 20 years and nothing has happened. the wing worms are still there and young people are going there in the evening and doing things that young people shouldn't be doing because it's unlit area and near the park where seniors now have, dr. d

the proposed parking garage. the connection between the site on pier 70 is what i'm to talk about next. as part of the event to find the funding to address the funding of pier 70 back in 2011 staff approached the park examination as well as the community groups to said they come up with a strategy that they need to approach the commission and state lovers to find legislation that will allow the limit of some of the restrictions on the seawall lots in 2007 prior to that bill 815 was passed to allow for the lifting of some of the use restrictions on seawall lots on the north part of the seawall lots and that relatives to the capital funding that's required. following that in 2012 assembly bill 2649 was passed to allow this seawall lot to be higher to the seawall lots that were added to 815. and it was a condition that the site should be made available for affordable housing for the mayor's office of housing. in 2012, the board of supervisors passed american people ordinance that helped with the prelims of those two
