the community. santiago jacobo was a custodian here at pleasant hill park. february 10th he was stabbed and killed. members of the community tell me while the investigation is ongoing, incidents like these in this area almost never happen. santiago was only 37, but his memory at pleasant hill park will be eternal. the custodian was found stabbed to death with many wondering what happened to the beloved husband and father, including local resident chris linepeter, who walks his dog at the park every day. >> always felt very, very safe here in pleasant him, still do to this day. it's a great community. people are super friendly here. so for something like this to happen it's hard to kind of fathom it would happen here in our little community. >> reporter: the park has been around for 70 years with families and people of all ages enjoying the greenery and the very facilities santiago once maintained. chris, a former member of the local fire department, says he trusts that the police will do their best to provide the family with answers. >> they're real stewards

this map summarize eases the parking changes that would result from the project improvements. as you can see, there would be 72 parking spaces removed in net total, which represents about 6% of the overall parking supply within a block of the project area, about 94% of spaces would be retained. every one of the spaces removed would contribute to improved safety, either by adding a boarding island or transit bulb at a transit stop, or by allowing for a pedestrian bulb or other pedestrian safety feature. one important note is that most of the parking impacts are concentrated outside of the commercial core areas of these streets, so they're kind of on the edges of the project area where some of the lower intensity is in terms of commercial activity, not completely, but for the most part, they are kind of separated from that. and to help mitigate the parking impacts, we did a curb use survey that helped us identify solutions such as loading zones, that would help ensure businesses and institutions can meet their needs. we've also proposed to add back parking through angled parking
