we are in the 50s from san jose to the peninsula around the rim of the bay. and satellite and radar, it suggests a huge dome of high pressure has been encompassing the entire state of california. it is beginning to erode due to the activity, it is a very active weather pattern, to the north of us. storm track is diverting off that ridge of high pressure but now that erosion, it will allow some of clouds to spill into the bay area, tomorrow. here is the future cast, for lunchtime today, you can certainly plan on eating outdoors. pack a lunch. and enjoy the afternoon sun. and here comes the evening where we do see the low clouds, the fog, push onshore. and then what happens wednesday morning, a combination of that marine layer, and then upstream, we start to see the development of an area of low pressure, taking a nose dive, out of the gulf of alaska. but it is weak in nature. and it doesn't have a lot of precipitation associated with it. but nonetheless, by 6:00 on wednesday evening, far reaches of the north bay, we start to see a little bit of light precipita

it's in the high 30s around the peninsula. then the closer you get to the bay of the water the temperatures are in the 40s. otherwise, san jose at 43 degrees. three things to remember for this friday into the weekend. first off, increasing cloud cover. you saw the clouds there in the mount vaca weather camera on the increase. showers develop by around 6 p.m. on saturday around the central bay and slicing to the south scattered showers will continue into our sunday. here's the leading edge of the disturbance that develops out of the gulf of alaska which means, it has some cooler air mass associated with it. and generally, when these systems do come in, we have a reversal in the wind and it's more of an onshore push westerlies 10 to 20. temperatures coming down in comparison to yesterday. 50s at the beaches, 60s around the peninsula. not bad. but down from 70 degrees in the san jose area, back through gilroy to the mid-60s. down from 68 in concord to 62 degrees. mid-60s in pleasanton and also in danville. 59 degrees in mill valle

lets say there were some kind of you know occasion of the peninsula in the future. chinese worries that the u.s. will have the northern part of the peninsula overall, there would be a perception in china that china has lost his game and the u.s. has won this game. i think there needs to be a real discussion of what ultimately u.s. objectives are and the peninsula and whether those objectives can be figured in by the chinese so that we'll have some common objectives. clearly, the chinese are worried about this whole issue because they see pushing oconn north ko to be pushing on something that may collapse and they don't like the idea of not having any confidence of what it is going to look like in the future. i think rex tillerson is going to have this deeper conversations wiconversation with the chinese and hopefully, there can be bigger conversations in the summit meeting. this issue is going to require chinese, they have a great interest in the korean peninsula and certainly as much as what we do and it is not more. we need to have serious discussions with him abo

along the peninsula storms in south san francisco. you see that cell bringing heavy rainfall. that's a significant storm sliding through that area. to the south, you can see that rain making its way toward palo alto and fremont. heavy downpours. bringing the rain total of an inch an hour. that's flooding rain. there will be flooding on the roadway and places with pour drainage, continue to see the showers in parts of the south bay, that will be picking up over the next couple hours and heavy rainfall will slide through there. we're notton with the rain after -- done with the rain after tonight. more is on the way. >>> we have team coverage on the rain tonight. back in full force. sal is live in berkeley, it looks like the rain has subsided for the time being. >> it's been consistent all day long, after 8:00 it started back up and the national weather service is reporting parts of the bay area will get half an inch of rain per hour. people are coming out, they want to enjoy saturday night near the u.c. berkeley campus. because of this wet weather make sure the cars are in workin

it brought hail, brief periods of rainfall, but the most impressive was right along the peninsula earlier this evening. this is the system that came through early on right along the 280 that shut down the 280. i want to take a close look at it. rarely do we see storms like this in the bay area. after 8:40 you can see the rain moving in. then the storm system intensified moving on shore off the pacific. the rain rates at the center of the storm cell was 2 inches per hour. that is about as heavy as it gets. all of that hail shut down the highway as it moved down. we have more unsettled weather. chilly temperatures. lows in the 30s and 40s. isolated storm in the middle of the day. lingering showers by 3:00 in the afternoon. >> thank you. look at this, hail is still coming down hard. chp has shut down 280 in south san francisco. you can see the hail piling up. some of this video we are seeing, new details. we are live along 280. ella, what does it look like? have you seen crews? >> reporter: the hail is not coming down. this is the westboro off ramp. there is hail. drivers are told to take it

we're starting out in the peninsula. looks like we don't have many dry days over the next seven days. as we start to see the showers moving in today, also getting the kids ready this morning. it's nice, mild, dry as of now. but they may need the rain gear later on this afternoon. as we will start to see some rain moving in, especially for the north bay as temperatures reach into the low 60s. this is what it looks like on the bigger picture out there right now. this storm system starting to roll in. the rain is still well to the norte of us. and we'll continue to see the cloud cover increasing throughout the day. so far we've only seen a few spotty light showers, but we'll get some more coverage on the radar later on tonight. and this is the way it looks as we go hour by hour. going to start to see that rain and some light sprinkles initially. starting out in san francisco and the north bay. by noontime into early afternoon. and then we start to see the pockets of the heavier rain indicated here by the yell loos and the or

the other major problem is on the peninsula. fine getting off the dumbarton bridge. south of there and embarcadero road, there is damage to the freeway. what happened there, i'll hand it to bob. this is a crazy situation, bob. >> reporter: good morning to you, mike. as a result of this accident, the number one and two lanes on southbound 101 are shut down just before you get to the he embarcadero overpass. there is a slight divot, a chunk of cop across the street knocked out of the overpass. chp is waiting for a caltrans engineer to arrive from sacramento inspect the entire area of the overpass to make sure it is safe so the lanes reopen. the estimated time not until noon. a dump truck had its bed raised. he dumped his load. he he forgot to lower the bed. it came detached from the cab and trailer. it had to be removed. and he he popped a wheelie in the process and broke his nose. chp does not believe drugs and alcohol was involved. as a result, they do have to make sure the integrity of the of the overpass is okay. one lane on the northernmost side is shut down into

for the peninsula, sunny skies returning to bell monday. san francisco on the cool side. 62 along the embarcadero. in the north bay, 66 in mill valley, colder 59 in point reyes. and napa, our milder temperature. the most recent dry weather, there has been a lot of interest in, are our rain chances completely done? it does not appear that way when you look at how things specifically unfold. we're in march, of course. san francisco averages 3.27 inches of rainfall. we won't see it winding down until we hit june. and chances will begin to taper off. on the extended forecast, the most important thing to know is by saturday, sunday, monday, we'll have scattered rainfall chances. the norm storm developing is by next tuesday. we'll go for an average high of 77 degrees on friday, down to 61 next tuesday as that storm system arrives. we may have to ramp up the rainfall totals more for next week. right now it looks like good chance of rain next tuesday. >>> hundreds of twitter accounts hacked. it's just a date. i can stay. i'm good. i won't be late he
